I was surprised to see this thread reappear, but since it did, I can report that the trip went pretty well. They stayed at Relais Bosquet and enjoyed it very much. The front office staff spoke great English and helped them out with boarding passes, umbrellas for rainy days and other assistance. I'm pretty sure this was his last trip, it seemed to take the wind out of his sails for a few weeks. But, he's surprised us before, so we'll see.
Thanks to everyone for all your help. Oh yeah, he took a cab to/from the airport but mostly traveled by bus in Paris. He wasn't concerned about the amount of time it took to get places by bus.

His favorite thing is the Moulin Rouge and the Montmartre/Sacre Coeure area - Place Tertre in particular. The Eiffel Tower to the top and the lights at night. He's not much interested in food either at home or in Paris so he doesn't pay much attention to restaurants and tends to go to American style places that are a bit easier. I think he just really enjoys the feeling of being in Paris and is amazed that, given the poverty and hardship of his early life, he could be so fortunate to experience such a thing.
