Paris hotel for the last day of the Tour de France

Any recs on where to stay for a few days to catch the end of the Tour de France?

Thinking somewhere close to the Arch de Triomphe or off the Rue de Rivoli. Looking for something under $200/night.

amwosu - Try a very nice three star in Rue de Bassano (metro George V). About a 5min walk up to the Arc.
I stayed there for a week last year and found everything to my satisfaction.
The reception was very curtious and efficient(men). The hotel has two elevators and a nice breakfast area, & large lounge for business meetings.
I booked a very good rate through Venere.com

hee hee... you're just a "tod" not a "tit". A tit would not have come back to post the name of the hotel at all...

We are staying at the Louvre Saint Honore, just north of the Louvre, the weekend of the Tour de France finish. $120 euros gets an air conditioned room plus breakfast (booked through Utell).

When we booked, we had no idea that the Tour de France finished that weekend. And are actually rethinking our plan...we are not big cycling fans, and it certainly looks like the whole area will be a zoo.

How would people rate the Tour de France - a must see, or something best to be avoided if you are note a bike fan?

Thanks, G

I'm actually a big tour fan and won a grant to spend a month in France to take in the sights of the tour. For the last two weeks of the tour, DH and I rode our bikes each morning on the tour route then watched the pros ride by and then hopped back on our bikes to ride some more.

If you go to my blog that I maintained for my students you can scroll down past the pictures and look at my journal entry for the last day of the tour to see if it might interest you to see it. www.mrswalkergoestofrance.blogspot.com

It is only a zoo on the Champs Elysees and the Rue de Rivoli and only on that day. I wouldn't change your plans because of it.
