Next month my fiance and I have 5 nights to spend in Paris on our first trip to France. We'd like to find a nice, medium-sized hotel for around $100-160 US dollars per night. We would like to find the nicest hotel we can for that amount in a good location close to all the sites one must see on his/her first trip to Paris. Any recommendations?

my husband and I will be on our first trip to Paris (and Europe for that matter) for 5 nights as well.<BR>We are staying close to the Eiffel Tower on the 7th Arr. on Derby Alma Hotel (It is affiliated with Best Western). Derby Alma is a four star hotel, we got it for $129 a night through discounthotels.com, well it actually comes out to $790 for 5 nights with taxes and fees.<BR>I did a lot of research before I booked it and this hotel seems to be pretty good.

Oh, Jen... finding a nice room for next month is pretty short notice for Paris, for Sept/Oct (trade shows, etc). You will need to perhaps search this board, to get a short-list (there are several that are very popular, will be mentioned many times over), then see if any on the list have availability. Or you could get the results from an inquiry on www.laterooms.com, pick a few, and come back to ask about them specifically.<BR>Most will recommend for a first trip that you look for a hotel in the single-digit arrondisements (sort of a circle around the Seine).<BR>There is a thread that gives a description or 'feel' for each arrondisement, if that will help you pick one or two to work within. Generally, the 3rd,4th,5th and 6th have more dining/caf&eacute;s/nightlife, while the 1st,2nd,8th are more 'business' oriented. The 7th has a few eating places, but is more residential (also quiet). The 9th can be tricky because it borders the Pigalle area, known for 'strip-club/sex shop' type activity.<BR>A good website to read customer reviews is digital.france.com. You can search by location and dollar-range, and also see the availability (at least, within that database).<BR>Good luck, and enjoy Paris...

Jen<BR>As mentioned time is ery short for booking most popular moderately-priced hotels in Paris; some take reservations up to a year in advance.<BR><BR>YOu can do a search here on Paris hotel and find past recommendations, but to save some time here are two right-bank hotels in the 1st arrondissment (the area where I most often stay) that don't get as much press as some others and so may have some space left.<BR>Don't know their current prices.<BR>Try the Louvre St Romain, and the Comfort Inn Louvre Montana, both on rue St Roch. Haven't stayed in either for a while, but they used to be very good values, very clean of course, and outstanding location.<BR><BR>I have a file on Paris; if you'd like to see it, email me.

Jen,<BR><BR>We just came back from Paris, and we stayed at the Claude Bernard, in the Latin Quarter (5th arr), just across the street from Sorbonne, and two blocks from the Notre DAme. We just loved it!!! the neighborhood is filled with cozy restaurants and cafes..;o) we LOVED IT!! Also, it is close to the metro.. very nice. However, make sure to have in writing the rates accorded when you make the reservations...we were told our rate would be 138 per night when we made the reservation, and when we checked out they wanted to charge us 150!!! I am glad we had the email saying the price was $138!!

Jen, we just returned from Paris and our stay was split between the Bersolys Hotel in the 7th arrondissement, and the Millesime in the 6th. They are only a few blocks apart. We preferred the Millesime but it will be slightly over your price range. However, the Bersolys was great too, and we paid about $122 per night. Bersolys is about a block from the Seine, and is in a great location. I would definitely recommend it.

Hi.<BR><BR>I encourage you to look into the Residence Lord Byron at 5 Rue Chateaubriand, a small quiet street off the Champs close to the Etoile. A lovely small hotel with lots of class at very reasonable rates (3 stars).<BR><BR>You're welcome.

I don't recall the name but check the Best Western site. They often have reasonable/nice hotels @ reasonable prices. The Hotel Louvre Piemont is one I can recommend but take a look they have hotels all over town.

For a first visit to Paris I suggest you pick a hotel close to a major metro station that connects several lines. Ideally that would be Concorde, which is a short walk to great sights such as Place Concorde, Place Vendome, at the foot of the ave. des Champs Elysees and near the Louvre. Many of the on-line hotel search sites allow you to search by arr. etc. Act with dispatch...you may have to setttle for a second or third choice at this late date.

I did alot of research as you are doing, and I found a great hotel in a fantastic location for $82.50 Euro which is around $85.00 US. It is a Comfort Inn Hotel which is called Comfort Hotel Andre Latin at 52 Rue Gay Lussac in the Latin Quarter 75005. It is by Jardins Du Luxenbourg, Notre Dame, and the Pantheon. It is on the Blue Metro Line, about the 4th or 5th stop from Gare du Nord train stration. The phone number is 33(1)43.54.76.60<BR>it is on a quiet street, great pastry shops every where. Try the Hotel du Pantheon in the 5th (Latin Quarter). Good location, romantic atmosphere, and in your price range. <BR><BR>Have a lovely first trip to France--I suspect it won't be your last .<BR>
