Paris Hotel -- Familia Hotel

I've read good things about Familia hotel in the Latin Quarter. I'm a female in my early 30s and will be there along. I am looking for something decent, not too expensive and in a safe area where I won't be too concerned at night (11 at night, I'm not out until 2 am). I am cautious and have been in plenty of cities alone so I am not sheltered or paranoid. Suggestions?

You will find a bunch of reviews on Hotel Familia on www.tripadvisor.com. I haven't stayed there but approve of your choice of being in the Latin Quarter. Stayed there last October. We were 2 females in our forties and wandering around quite late at night felt completely safe. There were always plenty of people round.

Youmight do a google search on Welcome Hotel, in the Latin Quarter. I stayed there long ago, but looked it up last night and it appears the same. Nice, small, reasonably priced, friendly, well located. 66 Rue de Seine.

Well I stayed there a few years ago and I would definitely stay here again. You have me missing it!

Ask if they have a room available with balcony facing the street. One of my favorite most things I did was to just watch Paris from the window at night. Across the street is a fabu patisserie, this is where I ate breakfast, it had great coffee and in the afternoon I would go over for tea and write postcards ? post office is on the corner too.

Also close to 2 metro stops, great location!

Good luck!

ecat, thanks for writing that. We're booked into the Familia in September and we've never stayed there. I've always read nice things about it, which is why I booked there. I read that the 5th and 6th floors have the best views.

Hleesa, tell us what you thought of it when you return from your trip!

LE BUISSON ARDENT
25 rue Jussieu, Paris, France

This is restaurant recomendation in the area. I have not been here for a few years but I adored this restaurant which I found in the Fodor's Paris book. It's about a 10 min walk from the hotel. I'd be interested if it's still there and still as good.

Everything was wonderful, we went there twice and the flourless chocolate cake still makes me drool.

Have fun dln!
