paris - hotel duc de saint simon.

planning my wife and my first weekend visit to Paris in a couple of weeks and our friend strongly recommended the hotel duc de saint simon. I did not find any discussion on this hotel. Any thoughts?

From another Bostonian:
There are several comments on different threads. Put in the search box above, Hotel duc St Simon and the next box, France and click go and on the left the posts will show.

I do remember seeing at least several comments on this hotel, if not more.

I suggest a less specific search as very specific names do not pull up as much (ie, there are not a lot of hotels with simon in the name in Paris, drop the saint or espec. abbrevations of such like st in the search term or you may miss some threads)

just put in "paris hotel duc simon" and click on france, but do not use the quotes, that's just to explain. You should get 36 responses. (if you put in "hotel duc st simon" you would get 12).

It IS a good hotel. It definitely has a following..better see if they have availability for your dates..that may help you decide!!

My sister in law stayed there for one night in November,. she's 40, and described it as "nursing home like", and moved the next night.

i've heard many good things about the duc de st-simon, not the least of which is that is the writer p. d. james's favorite hotel when she's in paris.

Restaurant next door -- l'Oeillade -- is good, casual, family-run place.

Thanks for the help. Seems to get uniformly positive reviews (although the nursing home like comment is daunting)
