Paris - Hotel de L'Abbaye

Hi,
I'm thinking about staying at this hotel for my 10th wedding anniversary in September - I've looked at the rants/raves section of fodor's and have done a search in this forum, but no comments. Has anyone stayed here and if so, what do you think?

If it's the Rue cassette, I love it but has gotton too expensive for me. There's a lovely garden courtyard for breakfast, a nice little bar, a wonderful staff and very quiet,
A great choice for an anniversary.
I've stayed there several times in the past.

I have stayed in the l'Abbaye..one of my favorites, as it is of many..they have a very true following..sooo...if you are thinking of the l'Abbaye, I would call right away..you may find it too late for a reservation with them..if they have space, I would book it immediately.

Try doing another search--the hotel has been mentioned here quite a number of times in the last 2 weeks, and just about everyone said they loved it.

Forget the search--the posts aren't coming up. Have you looked over at TripAdvisor.com?

We've stayed here and loved it, but in recent years it's been difficult to book. Call now

we stayed there and thought it was wonderful! Quiet street. Easy walk to many sites & Metro stops. Great staff. I would try to get a room ASAP. It would be a great anniversary hotel (we spent our 15th anniv there!)

Thanks to all for your comments! I have managed to secure a double room at 195 euros/night and can't wait!! I only hope the weather is nice enough to still have breakfast in the garden. Will do my best to post about the hotel upon my return.

I stayed there there four years ago and loved it - definately one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Paris. I had a tiny room, but it was perfect. It HAS gotten expensive :(

Weather in Europe is always subject to change, but September is usually mild. Last time we were in Paris in late Sept., the weather was perfect. Good luck, and happy anniversary.

kmowatt, the Abbaye is a great choice. I've been staying there exclusively for the past 10 years. As others have said, the standard rooms are small but adequate and comfortable, while the public spaces are charming. We've often been there in September and it's usually breakfast in the garden weather, but even if it's not, the breakfast room is a glass-enclosed conservatory opening to the garden...almost as good.

The staff is great, so if you want to arrange any anniversary surprises or treats, be sure to let them know. Several times they've worked with my husband so that I've come in from sightseeing to find flowers waiting in my room. Their suggestion of Pre Catalan for dinner for a major birthday was right on as well. Happy Anniversary!
