Paris Hotel - Budget to Mid Range?
 

Any recommendations for "quaint" lodging for 3 nites in Paris. Travelling with 2 teen daughters. Prefer safe location, close to shopping, The Louvre, Metro. Your help is much appreciated, thanks!

Pat if you check this forum under Quai Voltaire you will find many comments that are negative and personally I would not recommend this hotel evn to people who I don't like. Bad rooms and more.<BR>Check this bord under Paris hotels for some great suggestions

The one thing that I heard about the Voltiare is that the views are wonderful if they face the river but that the noise from the street is awful and the view is the only good thing about the hotel...sorry.

Pat - When are you traveling? Have you considered renting an apartment? If so, email me and I'll send info about the company I used when I took my teens to Paris two years ago, and will use again for 4 nights in January. We found it to be a great alternative to a hotel (more space, flexibility in meals, security, good location, etc) and it may be slightly less expensive than two budget or one more expensive hotel room.

I heartily recommend the Hotel Bonaparte. I stayed at Quai Voltaire. It was a beautiful view- loud road noise but the location was not so convenient. I prefer closer into the pulse of the 6th for more vibrance. I recommend Hotel Bonaparte if you get a big room. This hotel is very room dependent so find the man who works there who speaks English and discuss your situation. I am now curious about Hotel Danube - it looks so good for the price that I worry the rooms might be really small.

We will be staying at the Du Danube in March. There are three of us and we are renting the apartment. Two bedrooms I guess it sleeps 4. This hotel is on an awesome street in Paris. This is my 4th trip to Paris,I've always stayed at Le Meridian before. Check out Du Danube it is highly reccommended on this site.

I stayed at the Danube a couple of years ago, it is fine-small rooms, very clean,charming furnishings,the staff is excellent,very helpful.The location is one of the best and it is affordable! Just blocks in either direction and you are across the Seine at the Louvre or on the Blvd St Germain!Can't get better shopping than that!Also safe,good restaurants and not far from the Latin Quarter/Sorbonne, so you will notice plenty of young people, lot of book stores and cafes, it is a great area.Also look into (just around the corner) Hotel University & Millesime~M

RE:"quaint"- most of the hotels you will see in Paris will probably fall under that heading.All of the buildings in Paris are hundreds of years old, you will not find many new modern hotels with box - like rooms full of all the modern touches, you WILL find, rooms with eaves,beams on the ceilings,large windows,crooked staircases,hidden little gardens,things that you don't find in the US..and that is one of the many wonderful things about Paris.

Amy,<BR><BR>I agree with FG. We were in Paris in October and stayed for 3 days in the Latin Quarter. The hotel was the Des Nations. Excellent location, staff and good size rooms. The price was also reasonable. They can be found and booked at www.ely1212.com. Have a good trip.<BR><BR>Greg<BR>

I'LL BE ATTENDING A WEDDING IN PARIS DURING MARCH. THE BRIDE & GROOM ARE STAYING IN THE 16TH ARRONDISSEMENT AND SUGGESTED THAT I DO AS WELL. I REALLY HATE "SUPRISE" ACCOMODATIONS AND HAVE NOT BOOKED ANYTHING YET. I'VE LOOKED AT THE HOTELS REVIEWED ON THIS SITE. ANY TRIED & TRUE WITH KING BEDS & NOT QUITE SO "QUAINT"? THEY SUGGEST HOTEL REGINA, 6 RUE DE LA TOUR..BUT I DON'T KNOW.<BR>THANKS...BEACHBABE
