Paris hotel bookings
Hi,
Has anyone experience with the HolidayCity.com site? The rates they quote for Paris hotels are well below the hotel posted rates. I'd love to get their bargain prices, but am a bit dubious. Any advice? Thanks! |
I'm a bit dubious too.

You can book with a credit card that offers protection, and then a few days after booking, contact the hotel to ensure they have your booking. It's possible this agency is the sort that only provides the names to the hotel a few days before, but then you will find that out. Octopus Travel and Hotel Club work on that basis.

I took some random dates in March for Paris on HolidayCity and I did not see particularly good rates. What hotel did you see the good rates for?

Thanks Willtravel for the advice. On the HolidayCity site, 'superior'rooms at the Madison are listed at E230. On the hotel site, the 'deluxe' room is E320. In each case, the rooms seem to be one grade above the standard room. (I was checking for availability in May.)

I know people have gotten good rates on the Madison through Orbitz, so that doesn't sound ridiculous.

I'm not sure about Holiday City but I've been using www.staybooked.com recently with great pleasure.. definately the cheapest rates and easiest to use by far.

Hi N,
> On the HolidayCity site, 'superior'rooms at the Madison are listed at E230. On the hotel site, the 'deluxe' room is E320. At the Madison website, I see Classic double 207/265 Executive 275/320 Deluxw 375 Your "superior" room is probably one of the larger double rooms. ((I)) |
PS,
If you click on "reservations" you will find their promos. |
I'd check some others if they have the Madison, for comparison. The Madison does have very high rates, so I think they have a lot of leeway to discount them.
However, I think you are assuming a superior room is a deluxe room, and I think that is a wrong assumption. I'll bet anything it isn't (hotels I've seen that had std, superior and deluxe rates, the deluxe were always a different category). In fact, when I checked that site for the Madison on a specific date in June, their rates were higher than the Madison's (215 for a std double vs beginning 207 on Madison's website, 275 for a twin which is probably the highest end double on the Madison at 265, etc.). They listed 290 for a superior twin on holidaycity, which probably is compared to the top double rate of 265. I'll bet anything it is not a deluxe room. |
There is a definite difference between the Madison's superior rooms, which are fine in themselves, and the deluxe rooms. The best in terms of space (other than deluxe or a suite) would be a twin room on the corner.
