Paris - Hotel and District question
 

My husband and I are going to Paris and are narrowing our hotel search. Anyone have any info about either Hotel de Fleurie in the 6th or Hotel Mayfair in the 1st? We are trying to make a decision....would love info about the hotel...or the location...or the neighborhood. Thanks for your help.

They're both good hotels in very good locations. The Mayfair is rated a bit higher - 4 stars versus the 3 star Fleurie - which would give it more amenities and more comfort.

Joy: One cannot compare the two hotels nor the neighbourhood. Mayfair is a Right Bank hotel (near Place de la Concorde. In the evenings, that area is rather "dead" and very expensive regarding restaurants, shops, etc. whereas the Fleurie is in a very small street of Blvd. St.Germain-des-Prés, i.e. a typical small Left Bank Hotel surrounded by a lot of nice restaurants, shops, churches, art galleries, etc. The latter is extremely popular and I suggest you book asap, if you decide to get in there. It's a 3-star whereas the Mayfair is a 4-star. For myself, I would definitely go for the Fleurie to get the real Parisian feeling. St. Germain-des-Prés is one of my favourite areas in Paris. Joy: <BR> <BR>I agree with Ursula...Hotel de Fleurie is in the middle (or right on the edge of) everything you'll want to see at night...restaurants, wine bars...and great proximity to all areas of Paris. My husband and I checked it out a couple of weeks ago to see if we might want to stay in the future..the room rates are VERY reasonable for that area, and the hotel has air conditioning. <BR> <BR>I too would book ASAP! Hi Joy. I was helping a woman with her first trip to Paris last September. She booked at room at the Hotel de Fleurie. I'd asked her to let me know what she had thought of it, and these were her comments to me upon her return. <BR>"Because the dollar was so strong, we <BR>only ended up paying about $135/night, which was completely worth it. The hotel was so perfect- I could not have asked for a better location. The room was on the small side, as I expected, but very quaint and actually quite modern (I was loving the bathroom!). I definitey recommend it. It had the feel of a bed and breakfast, which was a nice touch. We literally walked out of the hotel in the morning and up rue Grégoire de Tours, which took us right to Rue de Buci." <BR>

Stay in the 6th.,7th. or 8th.
