Paris hotel advice please

Hello --

Has anyone stayed in these hotels in Paris?

Hotel la Louisiane
Hotel Lindbergh Saint-Germain
Hotel de France Quartier Latin
Hotel des 3 Colleges

Hotel Saint-Honore (Rt Bank)
Hotel le Loiret (Rt Bank)

I?m looking for a hotel for a week in the beginning of September preferably on the Left Bank and close to the River. We are a family of four and so we will need two rooms or a suite. Unfortunately we do have a budget and I would like to stay under $100 for a double or under $200 for suite or family room, if such things exist.

Also, I am thinking of booking a night or two in a posh hotel on the Ile de Saint Louis. I love the Ile and wish I could spend the whole time there. Do you think its worth changing hotels and paying more for a few nights or would I be just as happy taking long walks on the Ile in the evening?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Since you're going to be there for a week, have you considered renting an apartment? For a family of four, I should think that might save you some money, be a possibly more interesting experience, and give you more living space.
That said, the Hôtel de France on the Boulevard de la Tour Maubourg in the 7me has at least one quad for about $150.00

Hi
In case you don't get all the responses you need, here are three great ways to search for comments
at the top of this page, fill in the little box with the name of one hotel at a time, choose France in the other box, and see what past postings you get.

second is to choose the Hotel box at the very top of the page, go to Paris hotels, and you will find an alpha list, includng comments from guests

third, tripadvisor.com has comments from guests of many many hotels

Hello,

I can only offer comments on two of your hotels:

Hôtel la Louisiane -- basic rooms with a great location, in the Saint Germain area. Some rooms with mini-fridge. A room in high season for a friend of mine cost her 67 EUR.

Hôtel des 3 Collèges -- also basic yet sleek rooms with minimalist decor. It is a block off of Boul Mich, near the Sorbonne & the Luxembourg Gardens. Quite helpful staff.

However, I second the above recommendation about seeking an apartment. Double rooms are still small in Parisian hotels, and will seem even tinier for a family of four. Locaflat, parisvacationapartments.com, & NYHabitat.com are three worthwhile services who may be able to help you if you decide to take that route. Also try Aparthotel Citadines.

I do urge you to make reservations as soon as you can, for September is quite a busy month for the Parisian tourist trade.

Bonne chance!

Hi Zazu

>Also, I am thinking of booking a night or two in a posh hotel on the Ile de Saint Louis. <

I suggest that you take the money you would have spent on a posh hotel to get a baby sitter (if necessary) and have a posh dinner.

Thanks for all the advice including ira's pithy response. My girls are 18 and 21 and the only babysitter they will agree to better be French, 25 and very cute! Otherwise, ira's comments brought be to my senses!

As for the apartments, I am off and searching. Great idea!

Regards,
Suzanne

I am also going to Paris the first week of September with my mother. We found a great deal at an "Apart'Hotel" in St Germaine des Pres. We got a rate of $139 for a twin that has a kitchen and small living room. They look to be very basic units, but new and clean. Tripadvisor reviewer said, "We found this a really great location, an easy walk from The Louvre and Musee d'Orsay and the marvellous food haven of Rue de Buci." There is also a 24 hour desk and someone there to help with setting up tours and answering questions, something you don't get with a standard apartment rental. The website is www.citadines.com, there are 17 locations in paris, and the website has good location maps. It doesn't have the parisian charm I was hoping for ,but the location is great and we can have breakfast in our room every morning.
