Paris hotel advice: Millesime or Relais du Louvre

After searching this site and others and getting prices from the hotels, I have narrowed down our Paris hotel search to the Millesime which is quoting me $250 a night (their promotion is that euros = dollars) for a triple at the end of August and the Relais du Louvre that is 190 euro for a triple or 250 euro for a suite. Does anyone have an opinion as to which hotel is nicer or whether the Relais du Louvre suite is worth the extra money over the triple?

I am not familiar with the Relais although my cousin's group stayed there on a trip where they toured the Louvre and walked to the Arc de Triomphe, etc.

We stayed at Millesime in late April. The staff there was friendly, nice and helpful, although one spoke English better than the other.

I had asked for a 'quiet' room; a standard. They showed me two. I picked one that had a partial courtyard, partial roof view. I suppose you can pay more and be up higher.

The room was small and not elaborately furnished. However, it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom looked recently done in white marble and was large enough.

What I loved was location, location, location so it sort of depends what you want to see. We could walk to breakfast at Paul's and to jazz at night. It was not too far to get to Rue de Seine and walk to the river. Hope this helps.

I have stayed at the Relais du Louvre. I love that little hotel...and the staff...and the location...

Haven't stayed at the Millesime, so I can't give you a comparison except about that which I know.

Thnak you both. SuzieC, do you have an opinion on whether the suite at Relais is worth the extra money?

We've stayed at the Millesime several times and I love the location ,the hotel and the staff, good breakfasts ,too. I wasn't aware they had triple rooms, are you sure they are not putting an extra bed into one of their larger rooms?
Their deluxe rooms are a very good size but an extra bed would make it a bit cramped, unless it was in the largest room on the top floor, the Millesime Room.

Sorry no, I have no opinion about that. For the 60e's I'd probably take the triple. And spend the difference on what I think would make a really fine meal less than two blocks up Adm. Coligny Blvd. to Le Fumoir...

Good luck ... with either choice you really can't go wrong... you'll be fine.

We stayed at the Millesime 2 years ago and while I have no complaints, I thought our room (a deluxe double in front, with a teensy "balcony" overlooking the street) was a bit shabby for the price. There was peeling paint on the bathroom door, and the tv sat on a wobbly black stand that looked like it came from a flea market. If you want to be on the Rue Jacob, there are several other less expensive hotels within a few blocks.
