Paris Hotel

We are having trouble deciding on a hotel in Paris for our honeymoon in November. We would like to spend around 200 Euro (give or take) and we would like to be in a central location, such as St. Germain, the Louvre, or the Latin Quarter.

We appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thanks!

You can look at Hotel du Danube. Superior double goes for 175 euros. Search here for comments on the Danube.

If you don't mind paying less, take a look at this charming family-run hotel in the Latin Quarter:

Thanks, we will look into those. Hotel Danube seems to have some real mixed reviews on trip advisor, but its in a great location. We are thinking of increasing our budget a little because this is our honeymoon. Also, we would really like to find a place with a queen or king bed, rather than 2 twins pushed together. I know that's sometimes hard to find in Paris!

Charming hotel in the Latin Quarter, just across the P'tit Pont from Notre Dame is Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche.

We are booked for about our 12th stay at the Danube this November. I have a hard time understanding some of those TA reviews and sometimes think , it is people expecting services that are not usual and expecting gushy service..which is not at all FRENCH!. We always book room 6, it has a queen bed.

People book the cheapest rooms then expect luxury!

I love the staff there. Every single person has been courteous, helpful and pleasant..at least to us!

jody, do you think it might be that you are courteous and pleasant to the staff? I don't think sometimes that some people get that connection.

I'm sure that is the case, crefloors. The computer is located near the front desk and some of the conversations I've overheard are unbelievable!

I especially remember one night a guest asking the night clerk, which restaurant she prefered Taillevent or Jules Verne! Like a hotel desk clerk could afford either. When she said either was excellent, the jerk told her to make a reservation for the NEXT NIGHT!!!!

And I've also heard the true story of the "loud guest"!! Sorry but it is X-rated!

So I think we've decided to splurge and stay at the Relais Saint-Germain. It seems to have everything we are looking for. Has anyone stayed there?

Hi

I have heard about people getting Hilton near the Eiffel tower for about 120$ through Hotwire.com and if you can get it for that it is an ok deal :-). Here is my trip report with pictures and links by the way: http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Have you been to Paris before?

Regards

We have both been to Paris, but a number of years ago before we met. I was only there for 2 nights in college, and I don't remember it that well. Thanks for the trip report!

Amy, I've stayed at the Relais St. Germain twice -- in two of the lovliest and most spacious rooms I've ever had in Paris -- beautifully and colorfully furnished and decorated -- more like a fine home than a hotel room.

I saw you already decided - but we loved the Hotel Du Louvre. We had connecting rooms, a suite connected to a "regular" room. It was very spacious and plenty of room for our 2 girls and dh and I. I am sorry - I do not recall excatly what we paid a night because it was a special - we got 1/2 off the second room.

The staff was wonderful - we got stuck in transit and they really assisted me via email as well as in preparation. It is RIGHT next to the Lourve. We enjoyed the location for our short time in Paris.
