Paris hotel

We will be in Paris for less 24 hrs enroute to a trip on Midi Canal. We would like recommendations for a hotel for 1 night that will allow us to easily visit the Eiffel Tower. We arrive at 2pm and leave at 11am the next day.

Hi

What is your budget (in euro)? What date? Off season gives you a bigger bang for your buck. The Eiffel is in the 7th District so you may like a hotel there. Try

Hotel de la Motte Picquet - http://www.hotelmottepicquetparis.com
Hotel Muguet - http://www.paris-hotel-muguet.com
Hotel Prince - http://www.hotel-paris-prince.com.

You can stay at other arrondissements - the metro is excellent and easy to use.

The best hotel in the 7th is Le Walt; the top floors offers a view of the Tour Eiffel. It is a **** and a short walk fron the Tour. Taxi stand and metro are just a few steps from the front door. The restaurants Florimond and Leo le Lion are a block away; both highly recommended.

The Hilton would make it really easy as it's practically next door, but it might make more sense to find a hotel convenient for your plans on leaving Paris the next day, not just the Eiffel Tower alone. IN fact, depending on how you are leaving, it make more sense to have the hotel near transportation than the Tower at all, since you won't be visiting it the day you leave. There are probalby compromises, that's why you should mention your plans.

I agree with others that you don't need to necessarily stay in the 7th near the Tower. For example, I stayed one time on the Left Bank, on the street running along the Seine, with my window looking out over Notre Dame and, across the street from my hotel, the entry to the RER rail station with direct link to airport. That same station would be 4 stops from Eiffel Tower.

Michael - what is the name of the hotel across from the RER station? I am looking for a hotel close to a RER so we can avoid a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Trying to pinch a few pennies this trip to compensate for the exchange rate!

Hotel Le Notre Dame. We stayed in the loft.
