Paris Hotel?

I am looking for a small, not too expensive hotel near the Louvre. Rooms large enough for 2 women with all the "stuff" we bring.

Must have a bar for evening coctails.

Does such a place exist?????

Thanks for any help.

To some "not too expensive" is $100, to others $200. We need a number!

I doubt a small hotel will have a bar, but small cafes are numerous in most areas.

Most people seem to agree that "close to the Louve" is not the best area to stay. Not un-safe, just not the best ambiance.

Give us more info and we can help.

Most of the hotels I'm familiar with on the right bank by the Louvre are between 250-600$ a night... would you consider the left bank? It isn't but a short gorgeous stroll across the river to the Louvre...

"Not too expensive" is a relative term, but I'd second the suggestion to stay on the Left Bank, perhaps the 6th arrdt. Even a hotel without a bar is bound to be within a block or less of a place you might visit for an evening drink.

I can't vouch for the size of rooms in these places, but they do have bars and are near the Louvre, and at the lower price range scale of 4* hotels in that area that have a bar:
Hotel Clarion Saint James and Albany
this isn't real small, about 200 rms, but smaller than some of those deluxe hotels over there

Mayfair hotel
www.hotel-mayfair-paris.com
this one is small, about 60 rms

I think you can get rooms around 200-250 euro at those hotels, which is good for the genre. I imagine most 4* hotels over there will have a bar.

For the past three years, I've had excellent success with the www.France.com on-line hotel reservation service. The site posts extensive reviews of hotels so that you know exactly what to expect. I share the opinion that the Louvre area is not very interesting. I prefer the 6th.

The 6th is a short walk from the Louvre. Try the du Danube, or the Marrioniers.
