Ziana, have a look around in Paris; the local women are generally slim, so see what they eat and do the same! They all seem to eat pretty much everything, especially large bloody pieces of meat, accompanied by red wine. What I have also noticed in French pharmacies however, is the large section devoted to diet pills, slimming teas, creams that 'eat' fat etc.
Just enjoy yourself, eat well, but be careful with bread, croissants and desserts. And walk everywhere. |
Folks if the OP is not a troll she should be considered one. If she is really only eating tuna once a day, she will soon just pass out from malnutrition!
Are we taking bets on how long the tuna diet lasts? And Ziana, how much do you want to lose on this system. |
OK,
I report that for 18 days I am out of 10lb and very dissapointed. Not much ! I eat tuna with lettuce (regular salad) every lunch and never tired of tuna. When I come home I eat salmon or chicken or soup like chicken broth/veggie. I ate bread 3 times for 18 days. On weekends I bake chicken, steam fish, ordering steamed chineese food, boiling shrimps. Overall I eat 6 times less then I use to. I always could live without sweets. I think I was talking to myself for so long and finally my brain agreed with me. I have untill April, 1. I bought jump rope but haven't used it yet. I am honestly never hungry, just imagining cheesesteaks a lot and then I am talking to myself saying "I promise, after we back from Europe - I'll get you one.:)" I am not setting a goal to lose XXlb, no ! I will stick to my "6 times less" plan and will see. I have a question though... Does anyone knows if winter time makes harder to loose weight because I use to be shading 15 lb per week when I needed to. So long... |
All you are listing is meat/fish/chicken. Where are the vegetables? You will lose more weight in a healthy way if you reduce meat consumption and processed carbohydrates, and fill up on raw and cooked vegetables, salads, fruits and whole grain foods. Eat as many 'green things' as you can, very low in calories, very high in nutrients. Eat beans & peas for your carbs. NO white potatoes, white rice, white bread or white pasta.
|
Yeah, sure !
When I said tuna salad I meant scoop of tuna on the half-a-head of a lettuce. And more... I can't eat my salads without dressing or low fat one, so I am taking 1 pack (2 tblspoons) and throwing it into salad for 4. Shake it - awesome ! |
By 'green' I did not mean iceburg lettuce...how 'bout spinach, broccoli, green beans, brussels sprouts, asparagus?... Think "color" - the more color, the more nutrients: carrots, red bell peppers, yellow squash, tomatoes, oranges, raspberries, strawberries!

Went on the Atkins diet 9 months ago. Lost 45 pounds, cholesterol below 200 and triglycerides normal for the first time in my life. I actually eat more vegetables now than before I went on Atkins--just not potatoes, potatoes, potatoes.
It was hard at first as I was a bread, pasta, and sweets addict. I would eat a dozen donuts at a sitting or stop by the bakery, pick up a good loaf of bread and eat half before I got home. Can't believe how easy it is now, and how good I feel. My doctor was against it at first--now he is on Atkins as well. Of course, like any diet Atkins can be abused. Some people take it as a license to eat cheese wrapped in bacon and deep fried in lard every day. That's not what it's about--fish and poultry, vegetables that are really good for you, and whole grains all play an important part. |
Ziana,
The reason you have not lost any wieght on this ridiculous diet is Nutrition 101. Have you ever adopted a starved cat? Your body runs on much the same principle. When you starve yourself your body starts using up it's reserve fuel stored in the adipose tissue. Then when you finally feed it goes into overdrive storing fuel again. Thus you gain more wieght. The sensible thing to do is to diet in a healthy way. Cut out the garbage from your diet and exercise. If you haven't excercised in a while then don't overdo it. That could lead to an injury that would put you out of commision for a while, thereby ruining your trip altogether. You didn't mention how old you are. It's more difficult to lose wieght when you are over 40. Be sensible, please. Drink plently of water and limit your portions. It helps to eat a few small meals every few hours other then 3 meals a day. Good luck. Hope this makes sense to you, I'm wrinting this while I'm on my first cup of coffee. Blessings. |
Folks, give up.
Anyone who expects to lose 15 lbs a week is being COMPLETELY unrealistic. Let's get real, we don't just wake up one day overweight so to expect to suddenly be SLIM is just not going to happen. I am just sitting here laughing! |
"Cut out the garbage from your diet ?"
like what ? Lettuce ? I need an example of whole grains, please. |
No, iceburg lettuce won't hurt you, but it won't help you either. You may as well drink a glass of water. If you'd just substitute spinach (or one of those "spring mix" pre-packaged salads) for iceburg it would make a huge difference in terms of giving your body what it needs to function.
Whole grains are filling and satifying food such as: real oatmeal (not the flavored ones, but you can throw in some fruit without all the extra sugar) brown rice (brown rice cooked in chicken broth with roasted vegetables--peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, whatever-- is such a treat for me!) 100% whole wheat/whole grain bread (the heavier and chewier the better) barley (try making a mushroom-barley soup in a beef broth--you can find a recipe online) cracked wheat, such as Wheatena hot cereal Lots of dry cereals are made from whole grains, including Cheerios. :) Although whole grains are technically carbs, they are digested differently than white bread and other highly processed grains. They make you feel full and give you lots of nutrients your body needs, without it turning to sugar, and eventually fat. In general, if you are HEALTHY, you body will work more efficiently and you will lose weight. Ziana, I'm hoping you'll heed the advice about exercising, especially walking. As I've said before, not only will it help you lose weight, but you'll feel so good and enjoy your trip so much more. |
Whole grains: Brown rice, oats, wheat, barley... etc. Unrefined grains. Not white rice or bread.
BTW there isn't much in lettuce as far as vitamins or minerals, it's basically garnish. Especially iceburg lettuce. It's a complete waste of chewing as far as I'm concerned. There are some very good nutrition books and sites available. |
