Paris-help re bus stop no 42 bus to Eiffel Tower from Gare Du Nord
 

I will be arriving with bags and a teenager so don't want to wander around looking for a bus stop and then have to retrace my steps - it is anxiety inducing, tiring and makes you a target for pickpockets - does anyone know which end or door one of the station one goes out of to get to this bus stop, and whether the stop is on the road (which road) and if so, do I need to cross the road or stay on the same side as the station to find the bus stop? I am travelling in the direction of the the Eiffel Tower -

By the way, the RTR page does not give this detail - it just says you catch it at Gare Du Nord which covers a chunk of geography so not helpful. I do have the link to the route map and the bus service provider already thanks.

Bags on city buses can be a real challenge. A taxi for the short route could eliminate this stress.

Sorry I don't have the answer to your question, but hope you find a way to feel more secure about this transfer.

Sometimes the local language version of public transport sites has more detail. On the French version on the www.ratp.fr page where you can put in an origin and a destination I put in Gare du Nord (Depart) and Tour Eiffel (Arrivee) and chose that I wanted bus (as Mode). It indicated the 42 bus was the one I would want and when I zoomed up on the map it showed that the bus stop is a little bit to the SW of the station on rue Maubeuge. It seemed to show that you exit the station to Place Napoleon III on the S side of the train station, walk a little bit W on rue Dunkerque and then SW on rue Maubeuge. The bus stop would be on the W side of the street as that is the way the traffic goes toward the direction of the Eiffel Tower.

lincasanova - in Paris the buses are great - I have taken luggage on them before - people are getting off on doors down the middle so don't need to push past you.

I guess I have been on more crowded buses and in most cases couldn't visualize a suitcase or two being easy to be among the commuters! Good to know! Glad someone was able to give you the info.

Follow the signs in tbe station to the buses. There's a "depot" where several bus lines originate.

Since Bus 42 originates at Gare du Nord, getting seats with room for your bags will not be a problem. Best spot is the center of the bus opposite the rear door (with plenty of space and fold-down seats), but you'd have to move if anyone boards with a stroller or wheel chair later on.

Since you're not transferring buses to get to the Eiffel Tower, you can purchase tickets from the driver, if you have Euros.
