Paris - Great place for Sole Meuniere or Sole Almandine?

Hello Fodorites,

Hoping for your expert advice. I love more traditional French food. Specifically looking for a great place (can be a cafe, bistro, restaurant etc) in Paris that serves a great sole meuniere or sole almandine. Is there any place you can recommend, preferably one that is not crazy expensive

I'm staying near the Louvre but we are fine with going to other neighborhoods in Paris for great food!

Thanks in advance for sharing!

Paris has lots of good seafood restaurants. I think the food at Bar a Huitres is pretty good, they have sole. I stay in MOntparnasse often and there is one there right at the corner of Raspail and Montparnasse blvds, but there are a couple others in Paris, one is over in Bastille area so not too far from Louvre. http://www.lebarahuitres.com/uk/index.php
But they are kind of pricey, as is the nearby Le Dome, which is also good for seafood.

Now I haven't had sole at Bofinger's, but I have had other seafood there and I really like that restaurant a lot, both for food and ambience. And their prices are moderate. They do have sole meuniere so I wouldn't hesitate to order it there. http://www.bofingerparis.com/en/menu/meals.html

I don't think I've ever seen sole amandine on a French menu.

At Bofiners the sole meuniere is between 22 and 48 euros - depending on market price (fresh sole isn't inexpensive). I must admit that the menu sounds fantastic - but I've never found good fish in Paris at any bargain prices.

Consider Marius et Janette at 4,Avenue George V in the 8th (http://bit.ly/11EDOu2). One of the best servings of Sole Meuniere I've ever had.

It is surprising how expensive good fish can be, sole is rare nowadays, I believe. You can't even buy it where I live, I think it was overfished or something. Marius et Janette is good but I think it is very expensive. There is another good seafood restaurant in Montparnasse, Vin et Maree (there are a couple of them around, also), but again, I think the sole can be 60 euro or something. Anyway, both Vin et Maree and Marius et Janette and Bar a Huitres are a lot more expensive than Bofingers.
