Paris Gare Lyon
When I try to book train tickets from CDG to Avignon, it says Paris Gare Lyon. Is this where you catch the train in the airport, or what is the best way to buy one-way tickets? Thanks so much for any help.

The Gare de Lyon is one of the main train station in Paris proper. Although I am not familiar with the particulars, from the chatter on this site, I suspect that you are confusing the TGV with regular trains. I believe that there are TGV connections between CDG and the south of France.

There are also TGVs that run from the Gare de Lyon in Paris to Avignon, so be careful not to book those if you want to leave from CDG.

If you are using the sncf site, you enter "airport CDG TGV2" (or something like that) in the "from" portion. Do not enter "Paris". Also, enter "Avignon TGV" in the "to" portion.

Two weeks ago I took the TGV from Paris to Avignon, departing Gare de Lyon, which is in Paris and quite a distance from CDG.
My group of five purchased one-way tickets on-line and picked them up at the station (had to show credit card used for purchase). We arrived about 45 minutes before our train departed and had no problems. Enjoy! |
as Stu said when entering aeroport in "depart" section and Avignon tgv in "arrivée" section (on the french site) you can have a 2h55 trip (the longest is more than 4hours long)
AEROPORT CDG 2 TGV 11h24 5012 2e classe - Non fumeur Période normale Placement AVIGNON TGV 14h19 I wish they were that frequent for Dijon! there are so many for Avignon! have a good trip! Gare de Lyon is where all trains for South are leaving Paris. |
