PARIS for THREE NIGHTS,... NEED singleROOM *this* Mon 29th, Tues 30th, Wed 1st! HELP !!!

I was in Paris 10 years ago (2days/1 night).

This Sunday I leave Los Angeles, arrive AF PARIS on MONDAY,...will stay THREE NIGHTS!

PROBLEM: Urgent!!! I *NEED* a place to stay for *THREE NIGHTS* relatively *INEXPENSIVE*, close to main tourist sights, louvre, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, public transportation, walking distance, etc.

-----> I'd like a single, clean, safe bed in a simple hotel! I plan to be in my room only to sleep.

I am young-50ish and want to see as much as I can in THREE DAYS!(Yes, I'll buy a Foders-Paris to read on the plane)

PLS, PLS, PLS, HELP! Give me your best wisdom and advice!!!

Well, it's a little late for our 'best wisdom and advice', which would have been to book your hotel weeks (or months) ago. ;)

Try the www.Accor.com site for rooms at an Ibis hotel, or go to www.Venere.com, and be sure to check the reviews before you commit.

What is your definition of relatively inexpensive.

I normally stay at the Hotel de France, 102 Boul. de la Tour Maubourg, which is relatively inexpensive to my way of thinking - about $120-$150 a night.

We spent a weekend in Paris in May of 2007. For the first night, where I was on my own, I had reserved at:
Hotel Henri IV, 25 pl. Dauphine, Ile de la Cite, 75001
40E for the single room
Tel. 01-43-54-44-53. Metro Station: Cite, St-Michel, Pont Neuf
At the time, they did not have e-mail, so I called. The hotel was quite shabby, and under renovation so I imagine it has improved, but I felt very safe, had a nice breakfast included in the price and a great location--5 minute walk to Notre Dame along the river. It is on a small side street and very quiet. Toilet and shower down the hall. It was in all of the books and postings I had read as a great find.

For the second night, when my husband arrived, we stayed at:

Hotel les Argonautes, 12 Rue de Huchette 50E for single, 70 for double, shower in room, WC in hall
Tel. 00 33 43 54 09 82
Metro Station: St. Michel
e-mail: [email protected]

They have a website. What a perfect location--a minute to Notre Dame, and in the Latin Quarter which is so full of life! The hotel is absolutely charming. Our room was in the back, which was a good thing, because the street was noisy, especially on the Saturday night that we were there.

You can take the metro out from the airport, but be sure to have cash for the automatic ticket machine--US credit cards did not work in the machine, and the line to buy tickets was endless. Back then, it was approx. 9 Euros for the ticket.

Good luck!

I stayed at an Etap, Rue Dr. Babinski, for 55E per night, 62 on he weekend, insuite, per room. Room holds 3. If you can do down the hall bath, Hotelformule1 is almost next door for around 44E per night, per room. This Etap is on the outskirts a bit, at the end of bus 82 route, in St. Ouen area.

There are other Etap's closer in, but they cost a bit more.

I stayed with a family group at La Familia in the Latin Quarter in June. Had a singe for 89 euro/night, including breakfast.

To all,...

Thanks soooo much, I'm going to follow-up right now!

What about the exchange rate? Is a 100 ero room = $200 ?
200 = $400 ?

Here's the link for the hotel floor at the Hospital Dei, right next to Notre Dame. It's 102E for a single. I keep meaning to try it but haven't done so yet.

€100=$150 Approx

Also the Maison Zen, a meditation center with studios for rent. The single is listed for 80E per night.

Try the lastminute.com web site.

That would actually be the Hôtel Dieu, which is a large hospital that offers part of one floor as lodgings for tourists. The reviews I've seen have been generally good, but I think early reservations are necessary.

Bidding on priceline works great for last minute sometimes. I think that some of the Paris area hotels listed there may not be in the city center, though. Check www.biddingfortravel.com for prices people are winning and also for details on the possible hotels that have come up so far.
