"PARIS FOR RENT". Apartments----has anyone used this service?
https://www.parisforrent.com/?gclid=...FVYjgQodl4EIow
Is this a reputable company? It appears so but We've never heard of it in posts. Anyone/// |
It is interesting that you don't hear much about it, but given who is at least giving tacit approval to it, it has to be reputable meaning that it doesn't just rip people off. I'm sure Rick Steves and Patricia Wells wouldn't be advertising a place if it were a total ripoff or they cheated people. http://www.patriciawells.com/paris-a...vel-resources/
They have been mentioned on Fodors, though http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ntpariscom.cfm Of course they have a bad review on Yelp which does sound pretty detailed so I suspect it is real. So I would take that to mean they are not perfect. The review is basically saying the apt isn't as great as it appeared on the website and there is something fishy about the posted review process (which doesn't surprise me, I think many agencies do that). But they weren't cheated out of money or anything. http://www.yelp.com/biz/paris-for-rent-sausalito They do seem to have decent reviews on Tripadvisor, they are on Flipkey, also https://www.tripadvisor.com/RentalPr...a_manager.1563 |
Before I moved to Paris, I used this company to rent an apartment in the Marais on rue Ferdinand Duval.
At that time, the contract was only in French, and very lengthy - perhaps this has changed. I paid all fees by credit card before arrival, and did not receive my security deposit back "in a timely manner", because the owner forgot about it while he went on vacation. This agency accepts your payment and instructs you to deal with the owner for everything else. They do not intervene in any way if there is a problem with the apartment. I had a massive problem with mice, which went unresolved during my stay. Was also instructed to not use the shower, which the owner was planning to replace, but never did. The space matched the photos - but the furnishings were faded and worn, and did not match website photos which had obviously been taken some time ago. The owner had not cleaned out the closets, and there was a lot of his junk around, so there was no place to store my belongings. I would not recommend ParisForRent, because it was obvious that nobody inspects the apartments on a regular basis and you don't have access to a manager in an emergency. You should look elsewhere, because this agency doesn't provide good customer service. |
We were getting desperate and didn't want to stay in a hotel, so after reading the Trip Advisor reviews (thanks Christina) we did book with them. People seemed happy with the apt. & service.
Fuzz----how long ago was that? We are dealing only with the agency, not the owner. The contract is in English and they offer $89 insurance instead of deposit. I sure hope we have a better experience than you did but thanks for posting anyway. |
TPAYT - that was in 2007. Looks like they've changed a lot, since then. But it looks like you made a better choice.
