Paris for honeymoon in Feb - good idea?
 

Hi,

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon trip to Paris, Venice, Rome (in the same order) in the month of February'13. But we are now skeptical about Paris for the month of Feb.
We are keeping Paris mostly as a tourist destination (because of the costly hotels) - so we have plans for each day we are gonna be there - a whole day for selected museums and Eiffel tower; next day for Disneyland; third day for a quick trip to Versailles (if possible). But can an unexpected rainy day could spoil our plans?

Could Paris residents/frequent visitors be of help here and please do let me know what is the weather like in February in general? Also, is Disneyland a good idea during winters? Especially the roller coaster?!

I really do want to visit the beautiful city that I have so much heard about from many! But if Feb is not the right time, I might just drop it from our itinerary this time, and instead include Florence.

Please help.

Don't go to Disneyland. Waste of time even with the kids, especially in February.

While I've never been in Paris in February, my general feeling on vacationing during the not-so-great-weather months is that big cities are the way to go. If the weather's bad, there are plenty of places to go and things to do inside. That would be true of Paris or Florence.

Paris s great anytime, but skip Disneyland in favor of better things to see!

Skip Disneyland AND VErsailles. You have 3 days--make it more. Paris is a much more economical destination than your others, basically. If you aren't seeing good reasonable hotels, you are probably using a travel agent.

Though you may have a greater risk for wintry weather in February, Paris is great anytime. You run the same risk in Venice and possibly even in Rome. All are wonderful places to visit and I would go for it.

I would, as recommended above, skip Disney Paris. Where are you travelling from?

Hmm... so its everyone against Disneyland then... our attraction is probably due to the fact that we have not been any Disneyland before.. thought Paris could be a great start. But guess will skip it mostly..

Paris isn't likely to be much colder or rainier than Rome - or esp Venice. Any can have sunny weather in the 40 or even 50 - and any can have snow in Feb.

You need to know that going that time of year you are focusing mostly on indoor places - since the countryside is brown and crunchy. Also - in Italy in the off season some sights are open only in the morning (from 9 am to 1 or 2 pm) - so you may want to check the places you are most interested in.

prnix, maybe you should ask, "how many people here have ever been to Disneyland Paris?"

It's not on my travel list but someone the other day wanted to go to Disneyland Paris and got the same reaction. The poster was, as I imagine you may be, younger than us.

Maybe there is a generational urge to go there.

If it's near to your heart to go, then go.

My husband and I went to Paris in Feb and it was wonderful. It's such a lovely city, no matter what the time of year. I'd stay a few days there. Much of what there is to do there is inside. In Rome, it will be inside and outside.

I'd spend the entire time in Paris, if I were you. It's a magical city.

ANY time of the year is a good time to go to Paris - but pack galoshes & bumpershootes. For Venice & Rome too, BTW.
Disneyland?? Are you a child bride?

Disneyland Paris is small and unimpressive and you're already cutting your time in Paris too short. Skip Versailles as well.

Paris hotels, in my experience, are very affordable compared to many other European cities.

I've been in Paris quite a few times in February and seen everything from a brief snowstorm to sleeveless shirt weather. I wouldn't place much emphasis on the weather; even if it's cold and rainy, the city is full of indoor pleasures.

I second the opinion of those who say skip Disneyland and Versailles. Paris is such a wonderful city. We have been in February twice and although it can be cold and raw, it has also been warm enough to walk around in light jackets.

Just being in Paris and experiencing the "feel of Paris" is enough for me. Book yourself an apartment with perhaps a fireplace (if it's possible) and on those very cold and rainy days you can sip wine and eat some delicious food finds from any one of the Paris markets, in front of the fire.
