Paris for a romantic getaway week
 

Hello Happy Travelers,
My husband and I are heading to Paris next week for 6 nights. We're staying in the 1st district (Louvres/Tuileries) for 3 nights and in the 14th district (near Parc Montsouris) for the last 3 nights. We both visited Paris years ago as singles and would love some advice to make this trip together memorable. We will be touring within downtown Paris the whole week.

Here's our wish list for the trip:
- Mediterranean restaurants or classic French bistros with exceptional vegetarian options (no meat, limited dairy). Any place open on a Sunday?
- choices of romantic seafood restaurants, with a view would be an added bonus
- great places for women's accessories (costume jewelry, scarves, hair accessories). Local designers would be an added bonus.
- unique bus or boat tours available in April
- piano or jazz bars

Any reason why you are changing hotels? I wouldn't want to waste the time changing....?

I would change hotels, I often do in that time frame, it doesn't take long to change hotels. I like being in different areas. I really like Parc Montsouris, but there aren't a lot of great restaurants down there. I used to live near it at Cite Universitaire and had to go elsewhere on Sundays as hardly anything was open down there, even among the limited restaurants there were. But I'm sure you don't mind traveling for dinner. I'd suggest the area on ave Gobelins which isn't too far and a lot cheaper than central Paris. There are various restaurants I like in-between the Gobelins metro and place d'Italie. Just go over there sometimes and walk around to check some out, if you have time.

But trying to find some restaurant that specializes in great vegetarian food isn't easy, there are only a couple that I've heard of where that is really a specialty in the whole city. Of course there are tons of seafood places. Most of the restaurants I like in that area or at least 13th-15th arr are more typical French places which means mainly meat main courses, and some fish (the usual) but none of them have that special a view. For example, Je The Me in the 15th and le Petit Marguery near Gobelins metro are both good, but not vegetarians or seafood specialists. There are plenty of seafood places in Montparnasse (oyster bars, le Dome, etc.) but they don't have any special view.

There are lots of Asian restaurants in the Chinatown area SE of place d'Italie (Vietnamese, Chinese), so you might find something you like there.
