Paris for 3 Days in March
 

Hi everyone! My boyfriend just surprised me with a trip to Europe for 10 days, 3 of which will be spent in Paris. We are staying at the Hotel France Albion in the 9th arrondissement.
Does anyone have any information about the 9th arrondissement, like is it a good area and so forth?
This is my first trip abroad, my bf has been before but he was very young.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Just about any location is good in Paris, as it is very easy to get from place to place.

I stayed in the 9th last summer Rue St. Lazare (Hotel Langlois). No problems were encountered. However, there were not a lot of touristy things real close by. Nonetheless, it was still only a 15 minute walk to the Louvre.

You might get a feel for your neighborhood by reading the hotel reviews on Tripadvisor.com (for Hotel France Albion, I mean).

Thanks so much for the helpful info! For the other 7 days, we are spending 3 days in London, and 4 in Manchester (to visit his family)
And a day trip to Scotland if we have time.

Thanks for suggesting the other website. Anyone know if there are a lot of tourists in March? I read some of the other post but they didn't really comment on the tourists levels as far as waiting in lines and such during March

I've been happily married 19 years but have to plan all travel myself or we'd be going to Turkey Run State Park 50 miles west of home for every trip. They have an Olympic sized pool don't ya know?

I'm glad he told me in advance about the trip because then I could assist him in picking out the hotel. He had selected one right in the middle of the red light district without even knowing it lol.

Sounds like a great trip. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the 9th arrondissement, but you might want to check out the website chocolateandzucchini.com. The blogger is a food writer, and she and her husband live in the 9th. If you scroll down on the left side of the homepage, you'll find a "Paris City Guide" that includes descriptions of some interesting places to eat and shop in the 9th. If nothing else, its a fun website.

Your hotel street meets up with rue des Martyrs, which is a slight uphill walk and is a very nice and traditional market street (local boulangeries, alimentaires, etc).

You are a couple of blocks from the Musee Gustave Moreau, which is in the house where he lived and painted his entire life. His art is a very unique and dreamlike style, and is well worth an hour or two.
