Paris for 2 adults and 2 teens
Looking to visit Paris in July 2010 - looking for hotel or B&B recommendations.
2 adults 2 teens - main attraction to visit will be the Louvre but we are looking forward to walking around. Any hope of somewhere not over 150 euros per night???? Thanks |
It is very easy to find accommodations for under 150€ per night. It is all a question of whether or not you are willing to stay in simpler hotels 4 or 5 metro stations from the center.

Have a look for a 2 bedroom apartment. I'm not sure of the cost, but it would be a good option for you.

tchabc - You still have time to book the special deal at an Ibis Hotel. It reduces the room rate from about 160euros down to only 44euros. This would mean you can easily afford 2 double-en-suite rooms! The deal is 'clicked' on the Happy 20 deal shown somewhere on screen. I am not sure whether the offer applies to ALL Ibis Hotels in Paris but it certainly does at The Ibis Hotel Esplanade La Defense. http://tinyurl.com/c7x8x2
There is a direct metro line to the Champs Elysee and beyond (line 1)marked in RED on the Metro map. As a matter of fact it actually stops at the Louvre/Rivoli so would suite you for the Louvre and the islands. From the hotel the metro stop is a 2 minute walk and it would take about 15min by metro to the Louvre. Here are some photos taken in 2008 - We also stayed there in 2009 and are due back at the Ibis Esplanade in the last week July 2010! http://tinyurl.com/ybadlye |
Ooops! Sorry I incorrectly said line 1 was marked in RED - No, that is the RER line. The METRO LINE is marked in YELLOW!

However cheap the deal, staying in La Defense would result in a pretty disappointing experience for people mainly interested in the Louvre and walking around Paris.
Take a look at Hotel Bonaparte, Hotel Familia, Hotel Valadon Read this thread: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...rst-timers.cfm And try venere.com for your dates, and double check the reviews against Tripadvisor. Also try asking on other message boards like Frommer's and Tripadvisor. |

Zeppole, while all of the hotels on that first thread are very nice, they would certainly break the budget of a family of four trying to spend no more than 150€ a night. Most of them charge about 150€ for just a double.

Yes, you're right, kerouac! It didn't occur to me until a few minutes after I posted that they were looking to lodge everybody for that 160e, not spend it per room for two rooms. I popped back to correct my error, but you beat me to it.
Venere.com may have some solutions, and an apartment might be the way to go. I still think la Defense is not the answer, unless it appeals to them. |
There's nothing wrong with La Défense if money needs to be saved. It only adds 15 minutes of metro time to the day. Big deal.

BTW, sorry to be a broken record, as I have mentioned this on prior posts - but my teens said the highlight of our trip there a few years ago were the catacombs - rooms and rooms of bones is just too cool when you are in high school.
