Paris, Feb. Trip
I have just received confirmation from my hotel Concierge that my dining reservations have been made and a reservation also made for the L'Orangerie Museum.
Glad to have that much finished..... |
Well, if you want to start a discussion, you have to at least mention -which- restaurant for the dinner reservations.
|
I agree! Enough with the teasing!
|
I'm staying at the Westminster, so my arrival evening will be at their starred Celadon. Others: L'Obelisque(Crillon), Taillevent, Senderens, Dominique Bouchet and always, Violon d'Ingres to visit with friends, the Constants!
I keep up to date with what's going on with the restaurants via the e-gullet site. I'm not one for the loud, crowded and pardon the expression"heavy tourist" places. It seems that Comptoir du Relais may not be quite so favored. Zagat certainly has some negatives...anyway, to each his own. I'm sure I will eat well. I have some hotels I want to review this trip...look into the 16th arr. for future trips perhaps... |
GraceJoan, I didn't realize you should make reservations for the L'Orangerie. Is there a significant wait if you don't?
|
When I mentioned to the hotel that I was finally going to be able to see the Monet Water Lillies, but was not going to get a Museum Pass for this trip, they said that they could get me a resevation for a date and time...so that is what I did...1:00 on Monday Feb. 5th. I just pick it up from the concierge.
I would not think it would be crowded in Feb...who knows... |
Gracejoan, that sounds...well, "amazing" would not be emphatic enough.....I wish you a wonderful and very tasty stay.
|
Willtravel, you can make a booking for l'Orangerie at FNAC, several locations... I've read the line isn't that long anymore, maybe 20 minutes..? (espec. since you're going off-season). You know the public gets in starting at 12:30, right..?
|
I just "googled" about the tickets..quite a bit of info there. Mostly from Fodor's posters.
You are aware that L'Orangerie is closed on Tuesday? Early Feb. for me..may find that pre ticketing not really needed, but on the otherhand, glad to have it! Now, just weather watching. I usually prefer to do the Intl. flight from CVG, but decided that ATL might be a better choice for Feb. Much prefer the CVG airport..downhill from there into CDG..which is the pits!! One day we may be able to arrive at a terminal, instead of somewhere out in the middle of nowhere with the long, steep steps, bus ride, etc....I am doing carry-on only this trip......... |
Thanks Travelnut - I did not know those things. I think I'll set up the Orangerie visit in advance.
|
I was just in Paris in December and went to the L'Orangerie. The wait was not bad only about 15 to 20 minutes. The water lillies were spectacular....enjoy!
