Paris - Dinner Cruises
 

We're leaving for Paris next Tuesday - I really hadn't thought about doing a dinner cruise but everyone is telling me not to miss out ! Can someone recommend a good one and should we book before we go ?

Who is "everyone?" In my experience, it is a better idea to go on an evening cruise and then walk somewhere nearby for a good meal.

I agree. It's a 'must do' in Paris IMHO to take a boat ride on the Seine, especially at dusk and after dark. But, I'd recommend getting a hop-on-hop-off pass for the Batobus, a very reasonably-priced boat that runs on the Seine and stops at 8 major sights. I haven't read rave reviews about the food on those dinner cruises, but it can't be as good as you'll find elsewhere in Paris. I don't have personal experience with a dinner cruise, though, just saw them from a distance. They seemed overpriced to me, as well.

In general, you can have a better dinner at a landside restaurant than on a boat for the same price.

Take the sunset cruise. It's a BYOB and you can buy your "stuff" right at the pier or bring it with you from a local wine shop. There's a 2 Euro coupon to download from this site.

Then, go out and have a nice dinner afterwards.

I've not done the dinner cruise, and many on this site have said that it is pricy and not very good.((b))

Hardly anyone here has ever recommended the dinner cruise. Evening cruises, yet.
If you take the Vedettes cruise mentioned above, take one leaving Pont Neuf on the half hour. It will have you passing the Eiffel Tower on the hour, when the lights flash for 10 minutes. Go to their website, you can print out a discount coupon.
