Paris Dining With View

My hubby and I are in Paris right now. We'd like to have dinner for our anniv at a mid-range price with a view of the city or the eiffel tower. I'd appreciate in any suggestions.

Thanks,
Amy

Ask a local for some ideas, perhaps at your hotel?

Here's the restaurant on the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower:

We loved the terrace at Cafe L'Homme at Trocadero -- you're at the feet of the Eiffel -- best table in Paris!

Enjoy!

Cafe George at the top of the Pompidou has fabulous views of the city - a bit far from Eiffel. It's tres chic.... If you don't do it for dinner have lunch and get the Club Sandwich!

Coxbox (or anyone else who may know)- do you have the website for Les Hombres? I am having trouble finding it and wanted to make reservations for when my soon to be wife and I will be in Paris on our honeymoon. Thanks!

Google Les Ombres--no "H."

Le Diapason, on the roof of La Terrass Hotel in Montmartre has very good food at reasonable prices (for Paris) and a view across the entire city to the South. Do NOT go without a reservation!

By all means, AVOID the Cafe George on top of the Pompidou. Worst service we ever experienced in Paris. Portions were tiny and food mediocre. All together a waste.

sorry yes! we live in southern Calif..no H!! on Les Ombres.. then very easy..

seafox Jun 15th, 2008 04:32 AM

AMV - sorry to hear you had a bad experience at George. I've eaten there many times and have found the service to be flawless. Portions are not American super sized. They are appropriate.

Les Ombres. Great food...true mid-priced for Paris. My husband and I spent over 200 US Dollars but we do the whole thing, nice bottle of wine a few courses, etc.

It is above the musee de quai Branley.

A lot of famous Americans go there too. Matthew McConaughy was there with his girlfriend in March

I stand corrected. We spent over 200 euros for this dinner so depending on where you are from and exchange rate you can figure out the rest...

Bon Appetit!

This thread is perfect, as my husband and I have one night in Paris together. Both Cafe L'Homme and Les Ombres look amazing - which one would you guys recommend? And if we made 8:30 reservations, would that allow us to see the tower all lit up? We'll be there in July, and I know it gets darker later...how much later I'm not quite sure. :)

top...

RonZ Jun 24th, 2008 06:58 PM

Twinkling lights on the tower are lit on the hour after dark for a few minutes. So the best time is 10pm.
