Paris day trips--help

I'd like to take a day trip from paris. Places I'm considering are Brussells, Bruges, Avignon. I'd like to do a guided tour. There are four of us 2 adults and 2 kids. Has anyone else done a guilded tour from Paris? How did it work out?

Ummm...you do know that Avignon is 3.5 hrs from paris on the TGV? Seven hours on a train in one day seems a bit...long.

Any reason you would not do trips closer to Paris?

Those places are a little far (3 hours or so) for day trips. How about something closer like Chartres or Versailles?

I didn't realize Avignon was so far. I'll drop that idea (one of the kids is 4).

It looks like paris vision & cityrama have doable Brugges though. Has anyone tried those?

I wish I could do Mt St. Michel, but it seems much too long (2 hours longer than bruges).

Thanks for the Chartres & Versaille suggestion. Versailles is already on the list, but I wanted to do one more trip. I looked at Chartres and still may do that.

Also, any suggestions for restaurants in paris would be most welcome. We are staying near the ille de cite, and know only a little French.

Thanks for your help.

It will help you enormously to do a search here for "paris restaurant". There are many, many recommendations.
