Paris day trip w/teens

Planning on going to Paris in Aug with 2 teens (14-boy, 17-girl)Perhaps 6-7 days. Thinking of one day going to Versailles. Is there another day trip or overnight trip that would appeal to them or should we stay in Paris? They are good travellors but sitting in a vineyard all day (not) drinking wine would bore them. Thanks!

I just returned from Paris w/ my 15 yr. old daughter and we did both Versailles and Giverny. She really enjoyed them both. We had 10 days there and still didn't see everything, so maybe just pick Versailles and then save the rest of your time exploring the city. Have a wonderful trip!

2 good ones from Lorenzo but also consider Fontainbleu.

This won't be for everyone, but we'll be going to Fontainebleau with our 3 kids, ages 12, 12 and 17. Not only to see the chateau, but to hike the boulder fields in the woods. I've done this before with my husband and we loved it - and we always said we'd bring our kids back to do this. There are different levels of trails marked and we did the easiest (ie. a hike as opposed to rock climbing I suppose), but we still easily went over and through some big rock areas. When we get there, we will ask at a tourist bureau or at the hotel for their recommendations as to where to start - it's been a long time and we only have a vague recollection of the area we were in. We also bought a map of the forest - which I am amazed I found after 21 years!!! (But could I find the lock for my backpack or my converter??? No - my kids borrowed them and they haven't brought them back.)

It depends on your/their intrests. To do one different thing you might try going to one of the fortresses (not chateaux) of the Loire - perhaps Amboise - which also had an adorable town and Leonardo's house to explore (different from anything you will see in Paris).
