That last link works, cigalechanta, and that's what it looked like today. I am still in Paris and was out and about in it several times today. The snow was all gone, at least here in Batignolles, by 8 pm tonight.

Beautiful photos...so rare for Paris?
I'm headed there in about a week. |
10 cm of snow in Copenhagen. Someone up there has a sense of humour.
|
Leburta, judging by a couple of conversations I had today, snow on the ground isn't that common, but Kerouac or one of the other Paris experts could fill us in.
I hope it warms up a bit for your visit. I have found it cold here for the past week. The funny thing is that where I live (in Atlantic Canada), we just shrug this kind of weather off as being fairly mild, but here it feels quite raw. |
It was incredible to wake up to that snow this morning. Here's a link to my post about it on my blog: http://areweinparisyet.blogspot.com/...grisaille.html
A Parisian friend called and urged me to get out in it and play; she said the last time it snowed in Paris was five years ago. |
wonderful photos, shellio!

Snow in Paris is very rare, but we managed to take the Eurostar to Paris for a daytrip one March. Unfortunately. most of Paris was shut down except for some cafes open for dumb tourists like us who weren't at home. We did get some beautiful pictures of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame in the snow but due to the slippery conditions and freezing weather, most of our time was spent walking from cafe to cafe:)
Coming from DC, I thought we were the only city that shut down after a few inches of snow! |
You're killing me. I wished so hard for that in 2005, and then it snowed for a week AFTER I left.
|
Cigale and shellio, thank you both for such wonderful images. We've been there many times, including the "storm of the century" in 1999 (right?) but never with real snow. Looks lovely.
|
The last snow was five years ago? Then I guess this was it:

Actually, it's been snowing maybe once or twice a year in recent years. Most of the time it's not enough to stick, though, so doesn't make the newspapers.

I added some to my Christmas in Paris thread, page 2. http://tinyurl.com/ydq4vvz Meanwhile, in the city, the snow has already melted because it is 2° this morning. You have to grab these photos quickly! |
