Paris - Citadine Montmartre

Have anyone stayed before at Citadines - Montmartre? I searched this site and did not find any comments about this place. Is it safe location?

Is there a reason you want to stay in Montmartre? I'd suggest you look at the newer and better located Citadines St. Germain.

It was less expensive than the St. Germain. I also looked at the citadines @ Voltaire Republic. Will that be a nice place to stay? Is there a good way to get good deals @ the St.Germain citadines?

I haven't stayed at Citadines Voltaire Republic but I often stay in that general area and there is a lot of nightlight on nearby Rue Oberkampf. The Citadines St. Germain des Pres runs nearly 50% more, just eyeballing it on a site that I use. I don't know what your dates are, but I plugged in some for late Feb-early March and came up with $111/night for Voltaire-Republic and $166/night for St. Germain. (These are studios - one bedroom units are more). If you are coming up with higher rates than those, feel free to e-mail me: [email protected] -- but again, I used provisional dates. These are prepay rates, but a very trustworthy site.

And make that "nightLIFE". (Guess I'm ready for the nightlight or lights out already!)

I'm sorry. I see what you mean about the prices. But I would suggest you choose the Citidines Republic over Montmarte in any case -- especially if it is in your budget! Republic is a great area and very safe.

I would definitely choose the St-Germain location over the Montmartre one, especially if this is your first trip to Paris. There aren't many areas of Paris that are seedy, but the are in which the Citadines Montmartre are located is one of them. Why spoil a trip to one of the world's most beautiful cities by staying in an area that is kind of grotty, and very far out from the major sights of the city?
If Citadines dosn't work for your budget, there are other options, too, including plenty of nice hotels.

Thanks. I found 100Euro/night in Republique for a studio 2 per for Jan.
StCirq, Can you suggest anyother within this budget which is a good place to stay for a week.
Thanks all for quick response.

Here is one thread that talks about budget hotels in Paris. I'm sure that if you do a search for "budget hotel paris" you will find many others that are helpful. :)

Bala: How many people are you (i.e., do you need a single or a double or larger room), and is your budget 100€ or under?

Bala Dec 11th, 2003 02:02 PM

I need a double & under 100€
