Kerouac, I'm not celebrating X-mas this year so I'll print your photos and put them on my refrigerator. That'll cheer me up a bit. Thank you.

Gorgeous! So colorful this year. Thanks, k.

Traviata Dec 4th, 2020 03:32 AM

Is it my imagination or is it more beautiful than ever????

tracilee Dec 4th, 2020 08:47 PM

I agree with Traviata, it all looks better than ever! I’ve only been at Christmas time once, in 2016, and while we loved everything we saw even my husband said “wow!” when I just showed him the GL tree photo. Thanks, Kerouac, your photos are fabulous!

Thank you so much! I always enjoy your video's, but like everyone else, this year it is especially nice to see.

I will freely admit that it is a major consolation that the department stores have continued their tradition as though everything is normal in the world. Obviously, Galeries Lafayette was not as crowded as usual when I walked through it yesterday, and most of the entrances are closed since they need to count how many people are going in and out, but visually it remains spectacular.

Those photos of the Galleries Lafayettes are spectacular, Kerouac.

Thanks for being our official Paris photographer.

So many of us will be celebrating Christmas this year through your reports and gorgeous photographs. Thanks so much

Indeed, this will be our own special window into the Xmas festivities in Paris, the only one for so many of us! Thanks again kerouac 😊

Macross Dec 7th, 2020 09:33 AM

I just could not walk out on the overhang. There was a long line anyway but thanks for doing it for us.

kerouac Dec 7th, 2020 09:37 AM

The waiting time is never more than about 10 minutes.

I have a vague project of visiting the Champs Elysées, but since I already saw this "red" version last year, if I miss it, it won't be a tragedy.

Macross Dec 8th, 2020 06:12 AM

Maybe this year it isn't long but there were many selfie-takers 2 years ago with long poles. I think they were all trying for that perfect shot of themselves. But, they also buy a lot from the high end stores and I am sure the GL misses their money.

kerouac Dec 8th, 2020 08:02 AM

I would classify the abusers I saw this year (perhaps unfairly) as "Instagram girls". They needed photos with masks and then without masks in various configurations since there was always the person taking the photo missing from the group. (They didn't dare ask anybody else and that was probably a wise move if they didn't want to be tossed over the side.) The platform attendant made it very clear that their time had expired, and they finally obeyed him.

Thanks a lot! I should say, this Christmas tree is amazing!

raincitygirl Dec 9th, 2020 05:13 PM

Beautiful, thank you so much for spreading the cheer!

barbrn Dec 11th, 2020 12:59 PM

Thank you so much for this. That tree is spectacular.

ldatt22 Dec 14th, 2020 10:42 AM

Cool display.

kerouac Dec 14th, 2020 10:50 AM

I might take a few photos tomorrow when I go out to celebrate our next session that does not require documentation. I am no longer naive enough to think that lockdown will not happen again, though. But since I will be going out during the day, I doubt that I will encounter any "Christmas magic."

Thank you so much, Kerouac. Your photos are utterly charming.
Hearty Seasons Greetings and all the very best for a much improved New Year!
