Paris - CDG to Hotel with an infant - transportation options?
We're visiting Paris in the coming weeks.
We will be traveling with our infant daughter who will be 8 months old and ~15 lbs / 7.5 kg. What is the best way to get from CDG to our Montparnasse-area Paris hotel with our 8-month old daughter? Is there any road transportation (bus, shuttle, taxi, limo) which can come pre-equipped with a baby car seat suitable for an 8-month old child? (We are not planning on bringing our own car seat.) If we take a coach bus, do we even need a baby car seat, or can she just sit on our lap on the bus? |
Trains, buses and taxis do NOT have car seats - they are exempt from the rules. If you want her to have a car seat you need to arrange with a car service inadvance and the car seat will be an extra cost. (But with a baby and all the baby "stuff" I wouldn't want to haul it all around on trains anyway.

Nope, and shuttles don't, either. And even if you arrange it in advance with some car service, it's never absolutely guaranteed, so don't count on it.

I would, and have brought my carseat. First,,since she is under 20 lbs she still fits in her baby carrier that can be easily carried, and there are stroller frames combo carseats that are good for travel. Secondly I assume you will need one for her on the plane anyways? You aren't just going to hold her , its dangerous!! A carseat is a great thing,, no high chair, no problem, she is sitting up enough in a carseat to eat.. and she will nap in it when its clicked into the stroller frame.
I had three kids, and can't imagine travelling without a carseat and stroller, sure the snuggli/backpack thing works, but after 12hours of walking around all day, your back will be sorry! |
Do not travel without your own carseat. Use it to travel from your home to your departure airport, use it on the airplane, and use it for the taxi ride. Your child´s safety is worth any inconvenience this may cause.

We just returned from Paris on April 22, 2012.
We used the company iseatz (google this) to set up transportation to and from CDG to our rented apartment near the Louvre. We booked the first airport pickup trip through Marriott (recommended by them) and the cost was $100. I booked the second trip through iseatz direct and the cost was $81 to get us from downtown Paris to the airport. It was a nice van and driver. Our friends used a taxi and it was around $68 for same trip. You may want to check them out. It would not suprise me if they had a baby seat. You can call their US number and pay in advance. Our driver was waiting for us at CDG as we exited the baggage claim. We were pleased with the service. |
Safest with an infant is the RER.
