Paris catacombs question
While I'm taking a cooking class in Paris, my husband wants to tour the catacombs. My concern is that he has an arthritic hip and I'm wondering if the stairs will be a problem. I understand there are about 130 steps down and 80 some steps on exit. I think he can handle this if the stairs are even enough (with a good railing) and wide enough so that if he needs to let people go ahead of him they can. Can anyone give me an idea of the conditions?

The line itself is long so start by cutting off the standing time this way. He should not have a problem with the steps. |
Thé official website states that people with disabilities of the type your husband suffers might find the stairs and subsequent trip either uncomfortable or impossible to manage.
I pass by the line a few times a day and have never seen anyone with even a cane, standing in line. I think it might be a rough trip for him to take, and might put him out of comission for a day or so,depending on the severity of his condition. |

The stairs are fine but there are places where the floor is a bit uneven.

Thanks DebitNM -- viewing the photos of the stairs convinced him that maybe it would be too much for him.
Thanks for everyone's input |
