Paris cafes with fireplaces?
 

One of the nicer things about cafes in Belgium is that many have big fireplaces. On cold damp days, those cafes make great places to curl up with a drink and a book and let the world go by. Are there cafes with fireplaces in Paris? I've stayed in plenty of hotels with fireplaces in their salons (one of the reasons we like the Hotel du Cadran for cold-weather visits) but haven't come across cafes (not restaurants) with fireplaces in Paris. If you have, let me know! Especially if they're in the 7th, 16th, 17th or Neuilly. Thanks... <BR>BTilke

Two years ago I had a very nice lunch in a Restaurant behind La Grande Cascade (a 4 star). I am sorry but I can not remember the name. The Restaurant is on the south west side of Paris in the Bois de Boulogne. We got there early for lunch, about 11:30 and sat right next to the fireplace. Excellent lunch and only 95F. I am leaving for Paris today and I hope to go there again. This is just west of the 16th.

There's a small creperie, les Etoiles, on rue Princesse that I vaguely remember has a fireplace on the first floor. <BR> <BR>

Janis, you seemed surprised that Janeda is using an old post in order to share information about cafes in Paris that offer a certain type or ambience.
Thank you Janeda for this information. I may be going to Paris in February and would love to have coffee in a place that has a fireplace. Paris can be be downright frigid.

There's a marked difference between regular posters who view Fodors as something of a social gathering and lurkers who use it to search for information.

Regulars don't seem to like "old news" and lurkers love the useful tidbits.

So here I am ten years later, but now I know the name of the restaurant. Auberge du Bonheur

Dear Randy, thanks for sharing this address! I love the name L'auberge du Bonheur. I remember going there a long time ago during summer having lunch in the garden. I will add it to my blog. It is in the bois de boulogne behind a wellknown restaurant called La Grande Cascade

If I were doing a Fodor's search for "cafes with fireplaces in Paris" I would appreciate having information newer than 10 years old.

Of course, if your ideas about being a tourist haven't changed for 10 years, or if you are the board's self-appointed nanny....

Lisette/Janeda, it is a bit odd to see a 10-year old thread brought back to life for no reason other than to direct people to your blog. Although the information you posted is nice to have, I'm not arguing that, your post is borderline advertising and unfortunately, old threads have been deliberately revived on many occasions to push commercial websites or sponsored blogs (you haven't done that, but this is why people can be skeptical about Lazarus threads). To smooth the waters, why not post every now and then without mentioning the blog?
