Paris - busier on weekend or during the week?

Can anyone help with some advice about four nights in Paris in late June. Would it be wise to avoid being there over a weekend if we could? I mean, are the tourist attractions busier on Saturdays and Sundays than during the week. Someone suggested many Paris locals leave town for the country areas during the weekend, or maybe they just don't frequent the tourist spots.

To be honest, I don't think it would make much difference. Most tourist attractions would be open on weekends as well.

Some locals do go away for the weekend, though this will be totally offset by others visiting the city for a week-end city break.

On the other hand, Louvre will be closed on Tuesdays, Orley on Mondays. Louvre would be crownded on the first sunday of the month (because of free admission), though this won't affect your itinerary.

The only difference would be if you're into shopping, as many stores (eg department stores) would be closed on Sundays.

Hi C,

>Would it be wise to avoid being there over a weekend if we could?<

Not necessarily. You could visit the Parc Monceau before having Sunday brunch at the Jacquemart-Andre' and visiting the Museum.

After tat, walk over to the Arc de Triomphe and stroll down the Champs Elysee to the Louvre.

Caseya, if you want to do some shopping, avoid Sundays and Mondays in Paris (whole of France for that matter!)Majority of shops are closed on Sunday and Monday mornings. In some neighbourhoods like Marais, some shops will open around 13h00 on a Sunday but in some other neighbourhoods they will stay closed.

For me, the streets and shops always feel very busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Enjoy Paris!

In any city, tourist attractions will be busier at weekends because that is when people have time off work or school. London's tourist attractions are always much busier at weekends because many British people come for day trips or weekend visits.
