Paris Bus # 42 stop in front of Eiffel

Does anyone know if there is a stop right in front of the tower? The one on the route planner has us walking to the Docteur Finlay stop, but on the map it looks like there is another stop closer. We are trying to get to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner ( I know, I know.....) I know we can take the metro, but I thought it might be nice to see Paris from a window at night while we warm up a bit before dinner.

As I do not know where you are starting from, here is the map for the bus line:
http://www.ratp.fr/informer/pdf/orie...loc=bus_paris/

You will see it does not stop in front of the tower but either "behind" when crossing the Champ de Mars or on the east side (Avenue de la Bourdonnais)

Oh that is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!!

One more pesky question if you don't mind: So which stop would you get off for the Hard Rock Cafe? Madelein -Vignon? This looks like a wonderful route to see at night!

The HRC is not at all around the Madeleine area.
It is Bd. Montmartre (check its web site). The best way to get there would be to leave the bus at "Le Pelletier" stop, go down rue le Pelletier and at Richelieu-Drouot Metro stop, turn left on Bd. Montmartre. If you look at the different streets on the bus plan, you can see the route I propose

42 is a super route! But as has been said, the stop is on the Champ de Mars--with a good view of the Tower.

Notes taken! Thank you all so very much. Now hopefully I can relax a bit and enjoy this trip with my 2 daughters and friends. Thanks again!!!

You might enjoy the Passage Jouffroy which is right next door to HRC for some shopping.

May I ask a second and third question? We shall be arriving at Gare Du Nord on a Monday in August - a) where do we cach the bus from? b) where do we buy a ticket? Our hotel is very close to Tour d'Eiffel so this is a good way to see something of Paris whilst getting our bags across the city. Thank you.

Jen, it would be far better to start your own thread than to piggyback on this old one.

And where the bus departs from depends on which bus. You buy tickets at the Gare du Nord métro station.

Here is all the information you need to know about transport in Paris: www.ratp.fr

Jen: For transit routing, you need to provide the exact location of the hotel, as "close to the Tour Eiffel" is actually not sufficiently specific.

The Gare du Nord bus terminus is on top of the suburban commuter line part of the station. There are signs all throughout the station that show you where to go for bus, metro, RER and everything else.
