PARIS BUDGET HOTEL LESS THAN 100 EUROS
 

Dear Fodorites,

We are couples planning our fist time visit to Paris and are on the look out for a budget hotel in Paris, central in location and within the 50 - 100 Euro price Range.

Had done some work and have found out the following budget hotels in Paris (50-100 Euros), but don't know whether they are central:

Can I have some assistance in identifying a central hotel, or could anybody suggest some alternative hotels, central in location within the 50-100 Euro range.

See what you can get through the Accorhotels.com site. We stayed at Mercure Monty Opera recently, which was conveniently and pleasantly located (actually quite close to Hotel Chopin). It's a good hotel and we got a rate of 75 Euros per night prepaid.

We like the Etap line of hotels from the Accor group. http://www.etap.com In Paris they are located near the Peripherique highway. We like to stay at the Port de Vincennes Etap. It's an easy walk to the #1 metro line so there is easy access to everything we want. 53-54E per night for 2 persons.

I know this doesn't meet your criteria of being central, but with the convenience of the metro it's never mattered to us to be that far out.

Hotel Montpensier
Hotel Prince Albert

Both located very central, near Louvre.
We stayed some years ago at Monpensier. It is clean, we had a large room with frigider, phone, TV, etc. We love it.
However, this year we took Prince Albert (it is very close to Monpensier), but it has also A/C.

Hotel Madeleine-Opera is in a lovely, central location. Small rooms but very clean, nicely decorated and quiet. Welcoming staff.

Of the other hotels you mentioned, I would love to stay at the Avre and the Chopin - second and third on your list.

my last stay in paris was at the timhotel palais royal behind the Louvre, and i can highly recommend it.

i got a 79 euro rate on www.gtahotels.com off season including breakfast and tax, so it was the bargain of our trip.

newly appointed room bedding. nice beds, tiny bathroom..( par for the course) but new.

breakfast was an ample selection. bus at the door to go to the marais area. walking distance to many attractions.

i was pleasantly surprised at this hotel and the rate i got.

Two hotels with excellent locations in the 7th are Hotel du Champs de Mars and Grand Hotel Leveque. You can walk to the Eiffel Tower, Rodin, and Rue Cler. I believe they are around $100 a nite.

Sorry, I just reread your post and you said 100 Euros. At that price you could try Eiffel Rive Gauche which I reccommend for location and a nice hotel. As you can tell, I like the 7th for location but I'm sure there are many with great locations as well.

The first 3 on your list are well-known and very popular. The remainder include some I've never heard of and I look at Paris hotels online for a sort of hobby. You should go to Tripadvisor.com and read up on all of them, and plot them on a map so you know where they are. Most first-timers enjoy staying in the central arrondissements which have a mail code ending 01-07. (ex. 75007 might be closer to the Eiffel, 75005 is Latin Qtr, etc).

Hotel Jeanne D'Arc on rue de Jarente (be careful there are two hotels with that name) is in your price range, is well located in the Marais and is often mentioned favorably on travel boards.

I'm not sure if you've decided which district you want to stay in, when we stay in the 7th we always stay in Hotel de France Invalides. A double room with Bath/shower is €98, breakfast is €9 and well worth the money in my opinion,there is a good variety of cereals, eggs, cheeses, fruit & yogurts, etc. The staff are lovely and its a great location for the Metro. Its on a nice quiet street and you feel very safe walking at night, I've stayed here both with my family and alone, and always felt safe and happy. The rooms are exactly like you see on the photo's on their website. Good luck, and I hope you will have a wonderful time in Paris, once you have visited once, you will always long to go back!

I am also a fan of the Hotel de France-Invalides.

Over thanksgiving, dh and I just stayed at the Best Western Au Trocadero for 83 E a night - it was a GREAT location, we had a view of the Eiffel Tower from our room windows and it was very clean and comfortable - we loved it.
