Paris/Black Forest Area

We will be traveling by Eurarail from Paris to the Black Forest area. Please help with what station we will depart Paris (Nord?), what village in the BF area we should spend the night, and last of all is there a tour company for that area? A family member fought there during WWII. Thank You. Sharon

YOu don't have a choice of stations, whatever that route says is what you will have to do, so just search for the timetable of the trip you want to take, and it will tell you the station. However, given the direction of the Black Forest from Paris, I would guess a lot of trains to cities in that area would depart from Paris Est.

You will leave from Paris-Est.

The Black Forest has a total size of 60 x 150 kms. Impossible to cover all of it with one overnight. It makes quite a difference which part you are interested in and what you are planning to do there, and what you think you need a tour company for. Long-distance train routes would take you either via Strasbourg-Karlsruhe, Strasbourg-Offenburg or Basel, depending from which side you are planning to enter the Black Forest. So please check the details, and let us know. Like this the question is hard to answer.

If your reason to visit the Black Forest is a pilgrimage to where your family member fought then I would think that a village near where that person was during the war would be where you'd want to go. Do you have any place names? Otherwise, it may not be particularly meaningful.
