Paris Between Christmas & New Year's?

How much does Paris shut down between Dec. 26 and Jan 2? Will I still be able to eat in restaurants, shop, and visit museums?

We were there last year, I think on the 28th of December, and didn't have any problems with closures. Just check for National holidays in your guidebook, and always confirm winter schedules with the attractions you plan to visit. Have fun!

We've been five times during those holidays. There was no problem. It is so worthwhile going to Paris anytime, just go. But read up a bit on Paris first.

Hi Amy:
We are considering too and probably will arrive before Xmas day and concern about if we'd be able find an open eatery or not and for the rest of the day oh, well as long as you're in Paris !
I'm still searching for a cheap flight - have you purchased a ticket yet?

Hi Jetset:
No, I haven't booked anything yet -- just researching and wishing at this point. According to various travel sites (orbitz, Travelocity, ect.) the fares are high until Christmas Day. I'm looking at flying out on the 26th and returning the 2nd or 3rd and so far that looks like the best deal. But since we're talking air fares, anything is possible and likely to change drastically. I just want to get back to Paris!
