We've rented from numerous agencies over the years and had good and bad luck.

We've rented twice from www.guestpartment.com and had great luck. Both apartments were on the Ile St Louis which I personally think is one of the best locations in all of Paris. Our apartments overlooked the Seine. Their office is right on the Ile as well so everything is close by. Once you have an apartment selected, the process is simple and straightforward. We had no issues and I highly recommend them.

We rented a beautiful apartment (La Musique)from Parler Paris (Adrian Leeds) http://adrianleeds.com/parler-paris-apartments. The apartment we rented is no longer offered by this agency and is now part of the Paris Perfect offerings. The process was straightforward and there was good communication. This apartment in the Marais was on the 4th floor and the elevator wasn't working when we were there. We weren't advised of this and occupants told us it had been broken for a while. Not a huge deal but it would have been nice to know. 137 steps makes you really not want to forget things! I would rent from them again.

Paris Perfect. I know most everyone here loves them but, based on my experience I have mixed feelings. We rented an apartment in St Germain which was very nice. The issue I have with them is in regard to communication. We would get conflicting emails from the USA based team and the Paris based team about where to go and what to do when we arrive. We ended up doing the wrong thing and things went downhill quickly. There's other things too that I won't get into. I don't think I'd rent from them again.

By far the absolute worst experience I've ever had renting an apartment anywhere was with www.timeandplace.com. Given the cost and the fact that they represent only luxury properties I was expecting a lot more. A long time ago Samantha Brown stayed in a beautiful apartment in Paris and I was determined to find out where it was and stay as well. This was the agency. For the record, they don't offer it anymore (it was 12 years ago). The whole experience was a nightmare. Inside the apartment itself was beautiful but that's where it ended. The building was disgusting, it smelled and it was loud. It was on Rue de la Harpe in the 5th and filled with students. On the day we arrived I went out to get coffee and came back to be locked out of the building and my friend was locked inside. It took an entire day for them to get a locksmith and to get the lock fixed. We were only staying for 4 days so we lost 1/4 of our trip. The rep in Paris didn't seem in any hurry to get someone out there. I believe one of the tenants found a locksmith.

Had good experience with Paris Perfect. Booked a property for January. After booking, PP advised that they were having a 20% off sale and offered that discount to me even though I had already committed to the apartment. Found them to be no less than I expected.

Wow, Pilar21. Enjoyed reading your profile. I assume you save a lot of money with your limited attire. Glad you registered today to become part of the Fodor's congregation. Looking forward to future posts from you.
