Paris/Barcelona Transportation help pls
I am trying to plan a trip to Paris and Barcelona. I have the flight from the US to Paris, the hotel. I also am still debating on a hotel in Barcelona.
I need to find the cheapest way to get from Paris to barcelona. train? plane? Also, where should I stay in Barcelona (which area is best for being central to everything)? TIA |
plane should be the cheapest - www.whichbudget.com may help.
scenic enough day rail trip - there is an overnight train but it's a hotel train with generally expensive tickets but you may catch a special at www.voyages-sncf.com if you act early enough (try Sat night for specials) most folks stay in the Centro Storico (sp?) historic center around the cathedral and walkable to many things. |
I flew EasyJet from Paris to Barcelona, but definitely check out whichbudget.com
In Barcelona, stay in the Barri Gottic (the old Gothic quarter) or the Eixample (the more modern upscale area, closer to shopping and the Gaudi buildings). |
Hi Skippy,
My Mom and I stayed at the Apsis Atrium Palace 2 years ago, and it was wonderful. Very helpful friendly staff and nice rooms. It is right on the Gran Via in the eixample area, and is quite convenient to most of the city. You can usually find special offers on their website (our rate included breakfast if you booked on the internet). Good Luck! |
Oh, thank you everyone for your help. I think we will fly from Paris to Barcelona based on your posts and I will check out the hotels you all listed!!! Thanks again:0)

I have another question how far is the ORY airport from Paris? Is Easy Jet good for flying from Paris to Barcelona???? TIA!
|
Closer than CDG - and a lot closer than "Paris" Beauvais.
Yes |
What form of transportation do you recommend to get from Paris (opera area) to ORY? Thanks for you help!
|
3 ways
airport shuttles from your hotel or airbuses from some points in Paris or taxis Most seamless way via public transport - RER B to Antony then VAL people mover right to Orly terminals Cheapest way - RER C to Pont Rungis/Orly Airport station then bus shuttle into airport. |
If the schedule and/or price is better, a good choice would be to fly Vueling from CDG to Barcelona.
If you like the thought of saving the cost of a night in a hotel and having more daylight hours for sightseeing because you don't have to spend time getting to and from airports, don't rule out the Elipsos hotel train until you've read about it here: www.seat61.com/Spain.htm. |
