Paris Bala Bus

Has anyone ridden on the Bala bus in Paris? I know that you pay according to how long you ride, but do you pay with the regular "t" tickets or is there a special ticket or do you pay as you go?

I thought it was Batabus. Maybe I'm wrong.

Do you mean the BatoBus (as in bateau-bus)? If so, you go to one of the 7 (I think) boat landings and pay there. Don't know what a "t" ticket is, but métro tickets are not good on the BatoBus.

The Balabus is a Sundays/Holidays-only bus service that runs from the Grande Arche to Gare de Lyon from Noon to 9:00 PM. It is tariffed in "sections" and requires one, two, or three "t" tickets depending on how many sections you travel. Mobilis and Carte Orange passes for Zones 1-2 cover all of it except from the river to La Défense. You can download the route here:

Thank you Robespiere for the ticket information! The website however states that the Balabus operates Monday through Friday except holidays (sauf jours ferices).

What's the URL where you see Mon-Fri? I'm looking at the bus maps at

Robespierre, the address is

I think your URL got garbled somehow, because I get a 404. But try this:

http://www.ratp.fr/ParisVisite/Eng/Pla_q/Pla_r/Pla_r_rsx_g/balabus.htm

Robespierre, now I am confused. If you go to the first address you gave me and click on Balbus, then zoom in on the blue box in the left hand corner, it reads Monday through Friday except holidays. But the last address you gave says Sundays and holidays only???

Robespierre May 15th, 2005 09:37 AM

The blue box tells when the RATP's phone information service is active: Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30 except holidays.

jeffrx May 15th, 2005 09:46 AM

Thank you again Robespierre. I feel stupide! I guess I will have to find another way to get around.

Hey, the regular bus routes duplicate most of the Balabus itinerary. See here:
