Paris Bakery Lesson?

My daughter (15) and I will be in Paris the week of August 17-21. We are wondering if there is any sort of bakery tour/baking school? We have heard that some bakeries offer morning bake lessons for a fee. We are interested in croissants and baguettes... Any suggestions?

I'd try google.

I enjoyed my bakery tour with them very much.

Thank you fbc34 I was able to click to your suggestion and viewed both the gastronomy section and the Parisians at work. The Parisians at work options for August were Friday only..that's our leave day. So I am still searching for a morning with a baker... Keep the suggestions coming.

Luisah I did google this and found only one http://www.mygenieinparis.com/en/p/7...FclL5QodBD4mXg that fitted my specifications. I have never heard of this booking company nor do I have knowledge of the area of the bakery? (sorry for the length of the link - I do not know how to shorten it)

YOu can find something like that on www.gotoparis.net

Both Cordon Bleu and Escoffier do have short courses from half a day to one day, but are probably more into specialized pastries than it sounds like you want. Like they might have one entire morning just on a particular kind of pastry, or just on macarons or something.

I never heard of any Paris bakery giving free baking classes for half a day, that sounds questionable to me. Why would any place do that, they couldn't afford to. The ones at Ritz or Condon Bleu cost about 100 euro for several hours, I think. Where did you hear about this, I just can't see what would be in it for the bakery to do that, but sounds great, if so.

oh, sorry, I thought you said Free, but you said for a fee. I don't know of any bakeries, I think Poilane used to but don't any more.

Christina... Yes, I find this a bit odd also, but really does sound like fun if it's true. Did you check the website link above? The fee for the booking is 85Euro a piece. Seems low compared to the quotes for the Ritz, etc?

<<I have never heard of this booking company nor do I have knowledge of the area of the bakery? (sorry for the length of the link - I do not know how to shorten it)>>

It reads "meet in the Marais," which is an interesting central Paris location, but I wish they'd given the name of the bakery -- 85 euros times two will be more than $200, I'm not sure I would pay that much with so little information.

Maybe you'll find something better.

Luisah - I'm glad to hear that the tour is in a good location; however, I too am concerned about the lack of information. It seemed like a good price in comparison to the offerings at the Ritz and the CB, and you're right - with the Euro/$ exchange it would be a pricey tour. If I could be certain of the quality, I would pay for the experience/memories. I'll keep looking... Thank you.
