Porte de Versailles is a metro stop on Line 12 - direction Mairie d'Ivry. Line 12 runs right across Paris from North (Porte de la Chapelle) to South ( I think that's right), so can be accessed from many recognised tourist areas such as the Abbesses metro stop in Montmartre, Concorde at the bottom end of the Champs Elysees, Sevres-Babylone in the 6th arr. and also Montparnasse.
Many metro lines join up with this route so you can get it no matter where you decide to stay.

If it is anything like the Frankfurt International Auto Show, it will blow you away. My son goes every time in Frankfurt which is every other year. I went with him last year. It is huge! You husband will love it!

Frankfurt and Paris alternate for the auto shows, so it is basically the same auto show -- by far the largest in the world. It puts motor fanatics into fits of ecstasy. I have never been since I have never owned an automobile and don't really have any plans to get one.

We are planning to go when we are in Paris late next week. My husband are ex-Big Three engineers and went to the Detroit Auto Show religiously when we lived in Detroit. But looking forward to the Paris Auto Show since we have been out of the auto industry for a few years and love the European perspective on cars. We have asked my FIL who lives in Paris to pick up tickets for us.

Thanks all for your replies. I'm sure I would enjoy an hour or 2 of the show, but I know my husband will want much more time -- sounds like a good opportunity for us to each have some alone time! He's definitely excited to go.

As a veteran of the annual Detroit auto show, I have noted a couple of differences. One, Paris runs only once every two years, and may be double the size. Two, it is partly an industrial show where parts-makers check out each other's accessories without caring particularly about retail customers.
But the best difference is the chance to ogle European cars not seen on other continents, or sometimes get a peek at models that may turn up in NA wearing different identities. This year, for instance, we can check out the latest Ford Focus model which is definitely going to be sold across the Atlantic.
