Paris attractions for a 15 year old.
 

I'm on a budget trip to Paris and I'd like to know some things to do in Paris that would interest a 15 year old girl?

The sites, restaraunts (cheap with great food), events, etc.

I would also like to know cheap places to shop clothes for a 15 year old.

Have you discussed the trip with her to see what she might be interested in? Does she like art? Rent a couple of Paris travel videos and watch them with her. Discuss the things you see and find out what excites her. Give her a guidebook and have her write down the top 5 things she would like to do.

Try to get (free) tickets to the Fashion Show at Galleries Lafayette on Fridays at 3:00. You can get them on the website. It was one of my neice's highlights. Also, I could hardly pry her out of the store after the fashion show.

We did Paris with my 11 and 14 year old step-daughters. They liked best:

Musee D'Orsay
Saint Chapelle
Notre Dame/Ile St Louis
Musee de Cluny
Rodin Museum
Cafe sitting - esp near the Boul Mich
Monmartre
Versailles

Liked but not as much:

Louvre (too big)
Tour Eifel (too long a wait)
Bateau Mouche (the Seine isn;t very impressive versus the Hudson - or even the East River)
Giverney

As for shopping - sorry I have no idea where they went - they had a list of bargain places put together from talking to school friends - and ran around to a bunch of them while we goofed off a couple of afternoons. They did come back with some great bargains though - since it was their money, not ours.

But I think the biggest thrill was practicing their French on all the waiters (and giggling at the cute ones)

The flea market at Porte de Clignancourt fascinates people of all ages. But if your 15 year old has any interest in fashion (the kind that her parents would probably despise), the most important place to go is the Marché Malik part of the flea market (easy to find -- turn left under the périphérique ring road underpass, and it is no more than 150 meters, with a big sign under glass roofed galleries). This is where you will find what will be fashion in 2 years, and generally they are items that you tell yourself that no one would be caught dead wearing. You will be dead wrong -- the top fashion designers go there to see what is going on and get their inspiration there. Within two seasons, it hits the Paris runways, and a lot of it even makes its way to the U.S. within 3 or 4 years.
