Third floor French = fourth floor American. Walk-up apartment.

Who is going to carry the two-year-old?

ramekin4 Jun 27th, 2007 09:12 AM

Zerlina, yes, you bring up a good point, they do not have an elevator and I'm sure hubby and I will mumble at each other when she is tired and we are carrying her. I am still trying to find other places but was hoping someone knew the apt/area and could give us pros/cons if we have to gow ith this one.

What a shame there is no elevator. I like the St Paul metro stop area. Also, let me put in a good word for Paris Attitude rental agency. I am currently in one of their apts. and everything has gone just swimmingly. We are renting for a month, and all our dealings with both PA and the apt. owner have been perfect.

After inquiring about a couple of their apts. that I saw online, I ended up emailing them with a list of my requirements and then they provided me with the sites of their apts that met those qualifications. Maybe you could try that approach and see if they have anything suitable. Bonne chance!

crepesagogo- thanky ou for the suggestion! I just emailed them about what I'm looking for...hopefully they will have some good options.

I like the area too. I tried to book with this agency a few months ago and the agent worked really hard to find me a place for my budget. It just didn;t work out because our trip was a little last minute by the time we scheduled our flights.

I ended up booking through another agency, but I woould not hesitate to rent from parisattitude.

I think VRBO 19924 looks okay for that rate and what you have to pay for vacation apts. in Paris. At least it's only on the second floor, and has a washer and dryer. Of course, any 700 SF 2 bedrm apt. is not very big, as that's the size a decent 1 BR should be (and I notice they don't show hardly any photos, so don't expect much). The living room furniture is kind of cheap and doesn't look comfortable (note the cheap chairs), but that is what you find a lot, and it is less than 200 euro a week, so you can't expect a lot. I think it looks okay, and the area is convenient.

I think 19924 looks good, but I would ask for more photos than those provided on that one webpage. I've found the ones I am most comfortable with have an additional webpage where you can see more photos and more details.

Are you just dead set on Le Marais? I see a note on this VRBO one that says they also have a 2 BR in the 7th.

crepes_a_go_go Jun 27th, 2007 10:58 AM

Christina, am I reading your reply correctly? Where are you getting the 200 euros per week? The page I am reading says 980-1300 euros per week.

Leely Jun 27th, 2007 11:03 AM

Agree that the vrbo seems better suited for your party. My thinking is that it would be much nicer for the nanny (and your baby?) to sleep on real beds than a not-very-comfortable-looking futon. But I would definitely try to see some additional photos.

janisj Jun 27th, 2007 11:06 AM

I think she meant less than €1200 a week.

actually, 19924 looks pretty good. Especially at this late dats. 700 sq ft is not all that small for a flat in Paris. Sure 900 sq ft would be great, but 600-800 would be about average for a 2 bdrm place.

Christina Jun 27th, 2007 12:26 PM

oh, of course you are right, I meant about 200 euro a day.

That may be the avg. size of a 2 BR apt. in Paris (or smaller), but not in other places or what people expect, so I just pointed that out as some people overlook the square footage (or don't have a feel for it) and are expecting maybe at least 1000 SF or more for a 2 BR apt.

thanks for all your posts guys. the price appears right- they quoted us 1200 euro/wk, it has a good security system, we did see more pics that actually make it look better- the kitchen is quite nice and modern. the location appears nice? and it's available! so I think we will go with this one unless something comes up in the next 24-48 hrs that has availability.
