Paris - areas to consider for short term stay

I want to stay in Paris for about four months. I've got a long term visa and I plan to do some slow sightseeing.

I have been searching for a studio on the 5th, 6th and 7th arr. I am mostly interested in safety and convenience. Would you also search on the 11th, 8th, 1st and 4th arr.?

You had probably better be ready to take something anywhere you can find that is affordable to you, unless you have unlimited funds.

Hi R,

Four 4 mos, I suggest staying in the 4th or the 14th near the 6th.

Also keep in mind that the farther out from the 1st, 5th and 6th, the lower the cost.

Have a great visit.

I'd search about everywhere, within reason (I'd search 1st through 18th). HOwever, there are parts of many of those arrondisements where I wouldn't consider staying. Now convenience is an issue, but that's the problem -- some parts of an arrondisement can be convenient, and not others. For example, I've rented in the 15th and like it a lot, but there are def. parts of the 15th down in the bottom not so convenient and not as close to public transportation. I like the area around place Charles Michels, square Violet and square Lambert. Lots of the 14th would be fine, but again, there are areas that aren't so convenient or lively.

For long-term, I wouldn't choose the 1st, and there are parts of the 11th I don't care for, but I don't know what your budget is. I can't imagine you could find something in the 8th if you are limited in budget.

The only arrondisements I personally wouldn't bother searching at all is 19+. I like parts of the 13th a lot, also. If I were you, I'd throw in the 13-17th, but the 16th may be more expensive, also.
