I am looking forward to Saturday and seeing you living in splendor in the Richebourg. Please have the champagne iced....
|
And what would your preference be, white or pink?? The Taittinger pink was 28 euros per glass and the white only 23 at the Crillon on Sunday! I had the pink, seeing it was complimentary!!
The champagne will be chilled when you arrive...... |
We all need friends like you, gracejoan!! Champagne awaiting...will there be some caviar as well??? Still enjoying your trip vicariously...thanks for taking time each day to post!

Yes, having a friend like Joan is great! I am jealous of you Weekender! She was a great host when I went to Paris last October. What a nice bottle of red we had at the apartment followed by more red later that night at Valdo's. Or was it Kir Royales? Can you recall, Joan?. I wish I was there right now. It is CRAZY how often I think about Paris...enjoy the pics again!

Roberta:
Joan and I will toast you on Saturday! We are having a drink at her fancy new digs and then going to Fables for lunch. Thanks for reposting those pictures. I remember you kept Joan up til all hours the night before she left to fly home. We went to Valdo's in December as well. a bientot, Weekender |
We will be arriving in Paris on Monday May 5th and wondering what the weather will be....cool or warm? We will be staying in the 7th also but on the other side of Champ de Mars. is it a long walk over to one of Constant's restaurants on Rue Dominique?
thank you |
Let me tell you, Weekender, Joan doesn't need arm twisting. We showed up at Valdo's pretty late & figured Joan wouldn't be there due to to the hour & her departure the next day. Before we were done with our first drink, Joan called the restaurant to see if we were there. She came over in no time flat. She's got more energy than all of us...
Perhaps we'll all meet up one day at Valdo's! -Roberta |
Cornelius,
The weather map shows nice weather for next week. Pull up one of them and take a look. If you are in the 7th and across the Champ de Mars, you are very close to being in the 15th. The divider is Ave. Suffren. But to answer your question, it is an easy walk. You can also pull up Mapp.com and enter both addresses and get your walking map and distance. We may pass one another on the streets of the 7th, or may be dining at a Constant at the same time. Wnjoy your trip.. a bientot, Joan |
I went to a simple place that I had thought they might have been gone.Chez Pierrot. They were closed with windows all covered when I was here in Dec. I found out that they had an electrical fire and were closed for about 6 months.
Good spot. menu: entree/plat or plat/dessert 28.40 I had the creme brulee..I have seen some of the others..huge!! Here are a couple pictures: They are on r. Amelie..one over from r. Cler.email [email protected] http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...000_0001-9.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...000_0002-9.jpg My good friends, who live in small hamlet north of Paris, are coming in for a nice visit/dinner today. Fun! a bientot..... Joan |
Roberta,
It was late at Cafe Max! I think all were wilting! I still had to finish packing for my 6:00 pickup! You gals did a lot in a short period of time. Yes, we will think of you when sharing a glass of wine(or two, or more)on Sat. a bientot.... Joan |
Paris1953,
I wouldn't want to spoil lunch by eating too much before..especially when weekender is buying!! The sky is clear and the sun is already shining brightly. Off to breakfast... and must do some shopping for champagne, flowers and whatever! I need champagne for tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday noon! Where did all these people come from!! Sounds like fun in Paris! a bientot.............. Joan |
Joan:
Please go to McDonald's on Saturday morning and have a Big Breakfast.... |
Ha, no way. I wll skip breakfast on Saturday, for sure.
Just so you know, I did my wine shopping and I did buy some Taittinger champagne! I also noticed a landmark for you to note when you have almost arrived at my door is a sign, "Thai massages 15 euros - 15 minutes". High rent district of the 7th, you know! Just had lunch at Cafe Constant. A really good crabmeat and potatoe salad, bread and wine. Does one nedd more? I will post a picture. Just had a call from Jean-Paul and I am spending all day/evening with them next Sat..9th..taking me to Sancerre area..they have some wine shopping to do and we will dine in the evening at some magical place. This is really turning out to be one special trip! Have a good flight and will see you Sat... a bientot.... Joan |

Joan - that crab & potato salad looks divine! I'll definitely be stopping by Cafe Constant at least once since my rental apartment is not far from there. What is that dish called - salade de crabe et pomme de terre? I want to look for it on the menu! :)
|
Gracejoan, that crab salad makes the tuna salad I just had seem like...well, crapfish! I am taking note of all of your restaurant and menu choices for our September trip. Keep posting pictures! I know it takes a lot of time but you are keeping us all happy...

Went to Le Florimond for dinner. Laurent said they have been packed all week. He was very grateful that I had called after hearing from Jean-Paul and Martine that would not be coming in.
I forgot to take a picture of my foie gras..but you have seen some other good ones. My lain was excellent and Lilia, guess what for dessert? This was big enough for 4!! http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j..._0001_00-4.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...00_0002-10.jpg I wasn't sure if it would get chilly, so carried a light coat. It was still beautiful when I walked home. I told Laurent that I would see him before I leave in 2 weeks. sherhatfield...it was probably something like that. I think hyou will be able to recognize it. Only 11 euros. Plenty for me, if going out for dinner. a bientot... Joan |
i have been craving for good crab salad eversince Paul took it off the menu here in Dubai!
was so sad when I came back from my home trip after 2 months that the dish disappeared. many restaurants here use mock crab meat, i prefer the fresh stuff, shredded....slurpz! |
Joan,
I have been enjoying reading about your adventures! I have had to redirect my travel plans from San Miguel, Mexico to Paris (should have planned for Paris from the beginning but was trying to do something different. I am like a homing pigeon when it comes to Paris, somehow I always end up back in France! ha!) and am now trying to plan a trip in two weeks time! I will be there on the 17th. Unfortunately, I will just miss you but have been so grateful for your recommendations. I am trying to make reservations with Paris Perfect based on your rec. Hoping something will come through! If it doesn't work out with them, are there any other apartment agencies that you could recommend? I usually stay in hotels but would love to go the apartment route this time! a bientot, Kimberly |
Hello Joan, thank you for the photograph of the millefeuille, I'm going to send my sister a link to it - she ate the millefeuille when we were at Le Florimond earlier this month and just loved it. I could smell the vanilla all the way across the table...ahhh.
Did you eat it all? She did! And she is a tiny woman...about 6 inches shorter than her giant sister (me). Of course they were crowded as it is such a marvelous place! Thanks for the memory. I smiled widely when I opened that photo. Debra |
