Joan,
Where is Flirt The? Did I just walk by it many, many times two weeks ago and not go in? Darn. I will have to add it to the list for my next trip.

One more question, about that fish...how does one eat something like that? I have to confess that I have never eaten a whole fish in a restaurant in my life.

Looking forward to your next installment.

Debra

Debra,

You saw the pictures I posted of Florent and his "boards"?

The address is 3, av Duquesne..next door to the Derby Hotel..closer to Ecole Militaire. Simple little place, but good for what you might want it for.

The server removed the head of the fish. I did not order it!

Off to Provence in the morning.....

a bientot..

How beautiful those pictures are! Thanks so much Joan. How did you like your TGV train trip?

gracejoan3 Apr 20th, 2009 05:40 AM

Pictures are there OK, I guess. I'm not very good at taking pictures.

The TGV was great. Shuttle Inter people were right there this morning. They told me to email for my arrival back in Paris and they will be at Gare de Lyon to pick me up! How much more comfortable the TGV is than the planes!!

I have a brand new car..it is really bigger than I need..a Dodge something or other..bright red. I bet I will have fun finding my way in to return the car at Avignon TGV! It is a diesel...never had a diesel. Need to find where at the switches are next.

a bientot,

Joan

Looks like a beautiful spot, Joan. As I recall from our last trip to Provence, the rental car return is very easy at the Avignon TGV station. Enjoy your holiday, EJ

RobertaL Apr 20th, 2009 09:38 AM

I know, aren't the trains great (roomy and comfy)? The pictures of the hotel are pretty, it looks quiet and peaceful. I have visited the website and some of those rooms look amazing. I hope your weather cooperates!

show them the outside dining area. Are you in one of the troglodyte rooms?

paris1953 Apr 20th, 2009 11:53 AM

Your photos are lovely! More please!

I booked the intershuttle service for our arrival next week. I mentioned your name Joan Grace but no "special" price was suggested - boo hoo.

I have to find your post where you explained how to do the photobucket. CAn you remember what thread it was?

Really enjoying your report.

Apparently, the discount applies only if you book both ways and to the return trip.

gracejoan3 Apr 20th, 2009 09:32 PM

The discount has been 5 euros off the return trip when booking a round trip.

Transfer pics from camera, select ones and transfer to documents and then go to photobucket to upload and get url...takes time. I have some to do this morning from here.

Not in a trglodyte room, Mimi. They have had a large amount of rain..late most every day.Everything ready to burst, with some sunshine!

This happens to be an in between time, just after Easter..also, many Europeans taking advantage of all the snow this year and doing late spring skiing. Therefore, lucky me, I am the only guest!! So, I suggested that rather than they serve me tonight, why don't we all just dine together! It is a family group Christine and husband and brother is the chef. He is an excellent chef. A story on that..they weere a one Michelin star and were the first..in 2000..to give up their star. Many, many have done since then. This had never been done before..Michelin top man came here from Paris.Wanted to know why. They told them that they just wanted to do their own thing!! So tonight it wil be family dining along with me...how lucky can you get!!

Morre later...

a bientot..

Hi Joan, as our trip approaches, reading this thread is making me salivate in anticipation. I regret we'll miss each other by a few days. I do appreciate all the restaurant suggestions, especially since we are staying in the same area as you. We generally don't carry much cash on us. Do most places accept credit cards?

gracejoan3 Apr 21st, 2009 03:09 AM

Maggi, yes re the credit cards. Do call them before leaving with your travel plans, or they might block it. Eo remember that Capital One is the only one that does not charge the transactions fees. Some credit union cards etc. also do not. Take more than one card, though.

Some Riboto pictures:

Pics were : In pre dinner salon for drinks or whatever,
Per haps the best meal since arriving in France this trip! The entree was a foie gras..slightly crisp on bottom with a maybe raspberry sauce (?), main was bar, then there was a cheese course(no pic) and a marvelous souffle, prepared because weather still cool. I have to tell you that the bread and the very special olive oil was wonderful. This is olive oil country and it is very special.

I will post this and then enter my pictures from this mornings adventures and lunch in Maussane!

If you are in Paris long enough to add a "touch of Provence", do so! Easy 2 1/2 hr. TGV to Avignon for car pickup. Do your self a favor, though, do not see how much you can crowd into a day. This is a different world. If you chose this area and are fortunate to stay in this marvelous place..enjoy this area, only..."stop and smell the flowers". This is low key..the people are wonderful. My room is larger than many Paris apartments! To try to see all the areas is, in my opinion, a shame for a short trip. You can always return!
I know them all, but know way am I spoiling my trip by over doing. Late today I may go up Les Baux..when the crowds have gone! Tomorrow I will go to St. Remy market and Christine has made lunch reservations for me.

a bientot,

Joan
